SHWC2006: Communard Clutter by steward SHWC2006: Communard Clutter by steward
The 2006 SpiralHeart WitchCamp was held in late July at the Claymont Society for Continuous Education in Northeastern West Virginia. The Society's land offers two major buildings for sleeping and activities, one of which is called "The Barn", even though it just looks like a really long building with a lot of rooms. The Barn consists primarily of sleeping space on the second floor and activity space on the ground floor. At one end of The Barn is the Octagon, where the major nightly rituals were held; at the other end is the dining hall and kitchen.

When we first looked over the grounds at Claymont, I noticed that there seemed to be a lot of old machinery, etc., just lying around. A few months later, attending a planning meeting which was graciously hosted by the Twin Oaks Intentional Community, I noticed the same thing, although their clutter was a bit more organized. A friend of mine who lives at Twin Oaks explained that this is a sort of malady affecting communards, in that they're reluctant to throw away anything that might possibly be useful.

Inside one of the entranceways to the Barn, there's a couple of old Sun servers. Not connected to anything - heck, there's no -electric- accessible where they are, let alone cabling. I suppose they might make good doorstops if someone's carrying a lot of things into the place.
