These are all images that I did for the Epona Project, a multi-year worldbuilding project done as part of CONTACT: Cultures of the Imagination. Unlike most worldbuilding projects, this one was done using "forward engineering", rather than "reverse engineering" (although in reality there was a bit of both). A very large number of people worked on this, over a period of about five years.
What is meant by "forward engineering"? It's where you start from the beginning and evolve your critters, rather that starting with an endpoint and trying to figure out the ancestors. So, you don't start with "I want a dragon, how did they evolve?", you start with a primitive reptile and see what happens to it's descendants.

It's a vastly fun, educational, and entertaining weekend, spent with university professors, scientists, students, science fiction fans, and SF writers.
Note: I have uploaded the Epona Poster Panels. These were created for display at SF conventions. Some of the art on them is mine, as are some of the words. But not all! While I am posting them, I don't want to give the impression that they were created solely by me; they were not. The list of people who contributed can be found at the Epona link, above. (Just thought I would include that disclaimer, to avoid any taking credit where credit is not due.)
