Smash the Axis: Register and Vote Democratic! by StevenEly Smash the Axis: Register and Vote Democratic! by StevenEly
This collage I made of Michael Keaton's Batman [by Jerry Ordway] throwing an explosive at Trump, Putin and Jong-Un [by political cartoonist Mike Luckovich] as an update based on the classic political Batman #18 (1943) cover [by Ed Kressy and Dick Sprang] of golden age era comics Batman blasting Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo…

"Register and Vote Democratic" was the campaign slogan of President Roosevelt in 1944, and is still just as relevant today. democraticbuttons.freeservers.…

Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne and Pat Hingle's Commissioner Gordon are members of the Gotham City Democrats Club in Batman (1989). Christopher Walken's Max Shreck in Batman Returns was based on both Donald Trump and Max Schreck's Nosferatu (1922). In Scarlet Street #7 (1992) Batman Returns scriptwriter Daniel Waters explained, "Max Schreck played a character [Count Orlok/Dracula] who sucked blood for the population [in Nosferatu (1922)]...and [Christopher Walken's] Max Shreck is something of a vampire, sucking up energy, power and money from Gotham City [in Batman Returns (1992)]."…
Michael Murphy is Mayor Roscoe Jenkins in Batman Returns and explained in Starlog #181 (1992), "I have a skirmish of sorts with the Chris Walken character, Max Shreck. He owns a big department store, he's famous and he's a publicity hound - sort of a Donald Trump-type entrepreneur. He wants to build a power planet in Gotham, and I don't want him to build one. Gotham doesn't need one. But he's a devious guy, and through a long series of events, the Penguin ends up running against me. They try to recall me, and when they do, Max Shreck backs the Penguin."…
In Starlog #183 (1992) Christopher Walken explained, "Max is a tycoon, a self-made man, a big real estate guy. He wears spats and is involved in a lot of shady business. I've heard the comparison to Donald Trump before, but I hadn't thought about him when I was playing Max. I thought about other people I know, actors and non-actors. Maybe people think that because we're both from Queens [New York]."…
Christopher Walken explained, "Other people say that I speak like him [Donald Trump]. Well, we both come from Queens. It's true in most movies I don't use my own voice. I'm always from somewhere. Gotham City is really New York. I was born there. So I used my own voice. That's it. I never thought about Donald Trump. I thought about the big show business moguls I read about. Sol Hurok. Sam Goldwyn. Those guys who fought their way to the top. And then I thought of a lawyer I know. An older guy. Real tough. Real New York. Real smart. You wouldn't want to cross this guy. I thought about him a lot in this part. He's one of those guys -- too mean to die."…
Christopher Walken explained that the look of Max Shreck was based on Vincent Price, "When we first met, Tim [Burton] showed me a photograph of Vincent Price in an older film. Tim was fascinated with his costume and his hair, he wanted Max to have that kind of look. I remember in my office, I had a scene with Michael Keaton and there was a reference to the power plant I was building. I said in rehearsal one day, 'You know, it would be interesting to have some sort of blueprint or mock-up of what this power plant would look like. Within an hour, there was a model of this power plant next to my desk. I remember saying to Tim one day, 'Maybe Max should have a certain kind of cuff links,' and in an hour they had those cuff links. The people who built things on that movie were just remarkable."…
Tim Burton mocked Trump, "The hair alone is special. I can just sit there and look at that for hours. Just the way it goes and curls and goes up and around [laughs]. Well, I mean, look at 'em. Seriously. I mean that's why I'm here out of the country. That's why I'm in Paris. That's the only reason I'm here. It's like some surreal television show. If you're there it's a surreal television show, but especially if you're away it's fascinating. It's all coming true [Jack Nicholson's President James Dale in Mars Attacks (1996) by Tim Burton]. I was ahead of my time back then. Psychic. Well, I mean, Ronald Reagan was a lousy actor and he became President so anything can happen. It's been going on for years."

As John Lennon said on the Mike Douglas Show in 1972, "You have to be more politically aware in a day and age like this. It's almost impossible to not to." And Jerry Rubin said, "Since there is an 18 year old vote, which should be reduced to a 12 year old vote, we should vote as a block, we've got an 18 year old vote, and we've got to get Nixon out of the white house. Be sure to get registered to vote because that's power if we all vote together." Now we've got to get Trump out of the white house and Trump's ol' boy cronies out of congress. The future is at stake for us and the planet.
As Abbie Hofman explained, "I'm not afraid of big government, I'm not afraid of the size of government, I am considered about the quality of life that the government provides. Not just for it's most fortunate citizens, but for it's least fortunate."

And many of the comments bellow provide examples showing the macho bravado of right-wing Republican nonsense:

Sorry but please don't use Michael Keaton's Batman in SJW propaganda. Voting Democrat will bring the Hays Code 2.0. and other terrible things. Seeing this picture with Batman is something that Modern Disney would do if they bought DC Comics.

Not sorry. Reality check: Michael Keaton is a Democrat… and Michael Keaton's Batman is a Democrat. Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne and Pat Hingle's Commissioner Gordon are shown to be members of the Gotham City Democrats Club in Batman (1989). Voting Democrat will not bring the Hays Code 2.0. and other terrible things, Will Hays was a conservative right-wing Republican Christian Presbyterian preacher and chairman of the Republican National Committee and founder and chairman of the Hays Code to "clean up Hollywood" censoring what he thought of as sinful movies according to his Christian conservatism. This picture with Batman is something that Modern DC should do if they had the spine and courage that DC had in 1943.
