HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
Update: Been a hectic few weeks.

I'm back painting full time as I've decided to pursue my passion in Art with a renewed vigour (or..vigor for USA).

So far, I've spent 5 years as a Resident Artist in an Art Gallery,
7 years painting Murals for the UK theme parks
& 12 years heading Drama & Performing Arts in various schools.
My prints have been available on DA but I have had no control over their quality (geek note: they often print as low as 100 DPI and take 80% commission)

So, time to start enjoying Art and I would appreciate your help/input.

Please have a look and let me know what you think

  • I've become a Market trader.
Best time ever! Standing in the freezing cold and talking to people!
I'm selling a low-priced range of prints which I hope will become collectibles. the Faerie Series and Vale Wildlife so far, plus working on a medieval range. (with the Wildlife Series, I donate 10% to charity).
My first market was in Tewkesbury, my home town, for their Xmas lights festival, the next one is 6th December in Worcester, then 20th December in Alcester.
If you live in those areas, pop down and say hi

Follow me...not sure why, but apparently that's what one says.

  • Above all, wish me luck! :)

In the spirit of DA, I'm writing this on behalf of Charles my son (new to DA)

He is trying to contact any concept artists out there for a collaboration on a project for a feature film he is designing

He needs your help to design organic buildings and stuff!
I painted this for him  Kiana by SteveDeLaMare but am rubbish at concept buildings.

Please could you pop along to his site and find out more ( proddes.deviantart.com/
Just tell him I sent you ;) (Wink) Thanks

Ps, no prizes, just community spirit and credit if your work is used

Having just ordered 3 of my own prints for presents, I was very disappointed to find them all printed far too dark!
Metroplolis Metropolis Revisited by SteveDeLaMare , for instance came out near black and resembled one of those old art-craft velvet pictures :/
I complained and got a refund..

but..

does this mean that everyone who buys a print, from me or anyone else, is disappointed?
Please let me know if it is just me.

Surely DA must realise that people order from what they see on the screen and should compensate as they boast a quality control... or at least say that what you see isn't what you get (WYSINWYG)?
I did ask that question but have no reply yet..apart from saying make the source image lighter

As DA get 80% of the price of the print (yes, 80) surely this shouldn't happen?

Your experience is....?

I've Moved and changed job so thought it was time to update.

New Job, New Profile:
MrDExarts was originally chosen because my students call me MrD and I was Head of Expressive Arts in a London School. I am now looking forward to taking up a new position in a new school... this time being "Subject Co-ordinator for Drama and the Performing Arts" so the ExArts doesn't hold any more.

Moved:
Out of the smoke of London and on to an Island (Isle of Wight). It is a very beautiful place and I hope my work will reflect this.

Facebook:
I've set up a facebook page. It seemed like the right thing to do: not sure why. Feel free to "like" and let me know what I should be putting in it www.facebook.com/pages/Steve-D…

Other Stuff:
I'm also looking forward to seeing my work in the new Expose 10. Out soon, or now www.ballisticpublishing.com/bo…

ADDED
Thank you so much everyone for your replies on this, I'll contact their Print Dept.

ORIGINAL
Please could you tell me..
WHAT COLOUR AND INTENSITY IS THE TOP RIGHT-HAND SECTION OF ONE OF MY PICTURES? THIS ONE 'Rise Above' fav.me/d2vgtyk

Reason being.. I just bought a print of this, as a gift, from DA.
It arrived and I was very very disappointed..it was far too saturated, not at all what I see or paint on screen. I got this fav.me/d37csy2

so, in case it is my fault
please can you tell me what you see? the top RIGHT HAND SECTION of the link...what colour is it? and how dark/light is it? I'm wondering if my screens are calibrated wrong. in which case, all my pictures are wrong so far.

Thanks :)
