The Seventh Doctor (2012) Inks by SteveAndrew The Seventh Doctor (2012) Inks by SteveAndrew
Sylvester McCoy's 7th Doctor being all sneaky and Machiavellian in a darkened TARDIS. Who knows what devious masterplan he's cooking up?

I gave him an ever-so-slightly redesigned console room, with a bit more scale and a slight hint of the McGann TARDIS buttresses. (Just don't look to closely at the perspective on those walls, they're a bit wonky.) And I just had to keep that late-80s console - I loved that.

Another one to be coloured in at some stage.

Thank you!

Yeah, despite a few dodgy stories - I really liked McCoy as the Doctor. And the great thing is - he could believably appear as the Doctor again (because he was allowed to look older before his regeneration in the TV Movie.)

Thank you! I wasn't sure what you were refering to initially, so I just looked up Machiavelli's Prince - that description sums up the 7th Doctor perfectly. :evillaugh:

Oh absolutely - it would be quite easy to set up a Chuck Norris type meme regarding the 7th Doctor and his deviosity...

"The 7th Doctor is so devious, Voldemort dares not speak his name."

"The 7th Doctor is so devious, Palpatine is his padawan."

I've got a rough list of pictures to do, and at least two will have Ace. She's one of the best companions, certainly one of my favourites. I just felt for this picture it suited the Doctor to be on his own. :-)

Shame we only really got to see his darker side towards the end of his run, sadly most people (non-Who fans mostly) still see him as a clown.

My favourite moment of his is still that scene in Remembrance when he switches places with Ace in the truck. Played for laughs, but for me was the first slightly chilling instance of the 7th Doctor being something special and different. Spooky.

No probs :)! Ye Sylvester has got to be one of my favourite Doctors.
Its a shame we didn't get to see the rest of his darker side, it was planned but was unfortunatly cancelled.

Rememberance of the Daleks is a good episode overall, but that scene was very funny! :)

Thank you very much!

I've got as many Target books as it's feasably possible to get from 2nd-hand bookshops, so I'm going to try and start collecting the Virgin books, I hear they were rather good. (I can't believe I haven't read any!) And of course, some new series writers wrote a few of them.

Most of them are pretty good.
They're probably the most 'mature' Doctor Who stories as they were written for an older audience. So it's not unusual for the New Adventures to have sex, drugs, swearing and various things like that in them.

Thank you!

For me McCoy's stories sadly aren't the best, but he was a great Doctor - quite a clownish buffoon at the beginning developing into a darker manipulator later on. I always thought he had a touch of Troughton about him.

The one story of his which is essential viewing is Remembrance Of The Daleks, hands-down one of my favourite stories of any Doctor. There's the defining of the Doctor and Ace's relationship, the first hints of his scheming nature, some spot-on 1960s atmosphere, good use of a baseball bat and the first on-screen depiction of a Dalek going up stairs.

To be honest though, most of the rest of his stories don't really do it for me, some are almost painfully rooted in the 1980s. Although Ghostlight and Curse Of Fenric are good stand-outs in McCoy's final season - signs of what was possible if the series had been allowed to continue. (And I confess to having a fondness for Silver Nemesis, not something I'd admit to in public!)

But definitely check out Remembrance - top quality Who. :D

Part of what I liked so much about Seven was that he did have a darker side to him. Which he managed to keep pretty well in check most of the time; but the few times he lost his temper, he was genuinly scary, no matter how small and funny he might look.

Yeah, I like to think there's an alternative universe somewhere where Six, Seven and Eight were given 7 years each on TV. Each given a chance for their respective characters (and outfits!) to develop. That way, these Doctors would probably be more missed than they are now...

I would have liked that. I always felt Six and Seven were never really given a chance to develop fully. And all poor Eight got was the movie (which I never thought was half as bad as people made it out to be).
