Prometheus concept art...
I worked on "Prometheus" as a concept artist, and now that the movie is out I can show some of the images. I will eventually post stuff here on DA, but I felt the format of my blog lent itself better to an overview of the process, and to acknowledge some of the others involved. So I decided to begin with that out of consideration to the talented people I feel privileged to have worked with! :) Feel free to have a look: There is an "Art of" book, which I just got - and it's quite nice! But it contains only a fraction of the art generated for the project by myself and the other artists on the team. I worked wi

Farewell, Robot Monster!
I retired my old faithful avatar, the beloved creature from "Robot Monster" (1953) For the time being, I've updated it to an "author photo" that was taken for an upcoming book :)

What kind of animation do you do?

I'm from San Francisco. A sci-fi fantasy adventure, animation ,comic book fan and so on.

I don't get excited about sci-fi fantasy adventure movies from American movie industries anymore nor is that implying I favor foreigner's. I'm not exactly a fan of Ghibli Studios. I'm not exactly a fan of computer animation, I absolutely despise The Last Starfighter.

I'm not a fan of Disney Corporation and it's acquisition of franchises including Lucasfilm and recently 20th Century Fox. A tragic mistake by George Lucas, imho. Or, perhaps, he just wanted to be free from it, who knows.

I'm not a fan of James Cameron, Roger Corman, Dino De Laurentis.

Sir Ridley Scott has proved to be gutless.

I'm not a fan of J.J. Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan and Ryan Johnson. They had that one chance to show their stuff only to turn out to be garbage in thinking, sensibilities and imagination.

Bob Clampett singlehandedly for a year made a hand drawn animation of John Carter Of Mars ENTIRELY ON HIS OWN as a project he hoped would interest the Fleischer Brothers, sadly, it didn't.

Nelvana Studios also had their chance after a decades worth of work distinguishing themselves throughout the 1970s, these fools had the chance to work on the adaptation of Elfquest in the late 1970s, but their meddling with the creator's material saw no further relationship and their only theatrical feature failing at the box office saw them crumbling and then resurrected to do Care Bear stuff.

Funny, how Rankin-Bass managed to get J.R.R. Tolkien's works adapted by a fine Japanese animation studio.

What would you be interested in?

I have my own ideas on this matter.

I want to give my condolences to those poor souls who perished in that horrific attack in Japan.
