Here another "what if cars" based and inspired from the "What if cars?" site [link]

After my sketch of previous what ifs like the 1975 Chrysler Cordoba morphed into if there was a 1975 DeSoto Fireflite [link] 1977 Dodge Challenger [link] 1985 Renault Torino ZY [link] and a 1970 C-body DeSoto Adventurer [link] I pondered the next "what if car?" with the Pontiac GTO.

Pontiac had once planned a 1975 GTO based on the GM X-Body (Nova/Omega/Ventura/Apollo-Skylark) but the plan was canceled. [link] It didn't past the promotionnal picture, however MPC even released a toycar of it [link] A GTO that never was and someone even created its own "what if car" with a '76 GTO. [link] and one former Pontiac dealer, Napoli motors, even created its own GTO in 1980-81 with the Grand Prix. [link]

In the 1980s, GM decided to give one last "hurray" to the mid-size muscle-car with the Buick Regal T-Type and Grand National [link] [link] Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS [link] and Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 [link] Pontiac only got a Grand Prix 2+2 [link] besides the Firebird/Trans-Am "pony-car" and the Fiero. Then I imagined what if Pontiac bring it more "pizzazz" for the mid-size Grand Prix.

I used the frond end inspired from the Grand Prix 2+2 and Monte Carlo SS and keeping the notchback rear of the Grand Prix, to imagine what if the GTO roared back for another laspe in the 1980s before GM abandonned the mid-size RWD G-body platform to replaced them with the FWD GM-10 aka W-body platform...

Now what if Van Helen could had made a cover of Ronnie & the Daytonas' song "Little GTO" for the 1980s? ;)
