(Not part of the contest. This is my inner Daemon, and I made it into an HARPG breedable horse)

What does your soul animal look like? Did you watch the Golden Compass? OK, for those of you who know what a Daemon is, this is a draw your inner daemon contest. I have read all the books in the His Dark Materials Series but it has been a while. I used to play a role playing game based off it that I made up too. Anyway, real or imaginary. The winner gets a free pencil sketch done by me. Note or comment if you want to offer a prize for this contest. I just found out there is a new book trilogy that was released. Yay.

In the world of His Dark Materials, humans don't carry their souls in their body, like we do. They walk beside them, in the form of an animal spirit. What kind of animal it is, hangs on what you're personality is. For example, if you're loyal and like to please people, then you're Daemon is probably a dog. Many servants and butlers have dog-Daemons. Soldiers often have Wolves, Leopards, Jackals, Foxes, Wolverines, Birds of Prey and other predators.

The Daemons of children can shift into any animal they want. When the child hits puberty, the Daemon st to learn what daemons are and what yours might be. I don't care, just have fun.

About Coloring: This is all in Black and White so you can pick the colors! As long as there is spiral dappling then it is your choice (design doesn't have to be exact). If you want to know the parents though, Isharelle is Iridescent white fur with iridescent purple mane and tail. Her fur has a slight bluish tint to it. She has a horse's tail and cloven hooves. Ohem has a Dark gray body with light gray highlights. His back and rear legs have a lighter gray dapple blanket, extending to the bottom of the jawline, but not on the belly, front legs or the front of the neck. Hooves and mane and tail are cyan/green with lots of highlights, horn is an off-blue/cyan hue and extends slightly backwards. Muzzle is dark gray, with the exception of a small white lip line on upper lip, and eye is crystal/cyan blue. Tail is traditional 'lion's tail' shape.

Do you wonder what I mean by "Spiral Dapple?" No fear! I have drawn up a quick pic to show you: pegacorna2.deviantart.com/art/… but it is up for interpretation!

You can draw the foal as an adult or foal.

About Story Creation:

Your story can be anything, perhaps Ishohem was stolen, or perhaps he strayed far from home. Either way, you can't paint me or the Queen of Randomness as bad, but you are welcome to create other villains to color your story The story can be prose or comic.

-Contest ends May 31, 2009
-You must have a small story about how he joined your herd or stable. This can be done in a comic/manga format so long as there is a clear picture of what the foal's coloration is.
-Colors are preferred to be similar to the two parents, but not required (Iridescent white and Dapple grey are the parents, the foal has spiral like dappling).
-You can donate a prize and join the contest.
-Must be new art or at least a new character
-You can pick the foal's sex.
-Minor changes allowed (such as adding wings, invisible wings, iridescence, more hornage etc)
-You can draw the horse as foal or adult
-Should be for the HorseArt RPG or stay on DeviantArt
-There must be at least four entries
-Afterward, if you win, this horse is yours. You can take credit for the design (the spiral dappling was sort of my idea, so a mention would be ok, but I doubt it was super original). You can make prints with it, whatever! Have fun with the foal and enjoy!
