Here's something you don't see every day... a handmade book about popovers... in the shape of popovers.

This was an artist book I made last year for my papermaking final. Each popover, as well as the "filling" and the " pan" were made from 100% handmade rag paper... which I had to make as well.

I added straw and yellow mohair to add texture, and colored the popovers with luma dye and painted the pan with acrylics and silver foil. Inside each popover, I printed some facts about my favorite member of the bread family, my mom's recipe for popovers, and some memories about them.

Too bad it's been years since I had one... *stomach growls*

I know I keep saying this about everything but I love this! I think it's beautiful, and the fact that you wrote personal memories and thoughts in them makes it even more special. ♥ They really look like dried apple shells and I thought that it was real metal cups at first.

I have no ideas what popovers, mohair or luma dye are but I can see that these look great and that they must have taken a lot of effort, so congrats on what I assume was a very successful papermaking final.

That's such a fantastic concept, I really admire your creativity for things like this ^_^

To be honest, my entire knowledge of popovers is from Jim Henson's version of the Frog Prince, but I'll take your word for it that they're nifty ^_^

Ya know, I'd never heard if a popover until you linked this in one of your journals. They sound interesting. I should try giving it a shot (the recipie).

If you want the recipe, just let me know. I can email it to ya. Be warned though, you need *special* popover pans for it to work - but it's SO worth it! And I'll let ya know if this gets into the gallery show. ^__^

Sweet!

I've never had a papermaking final. It sounds...messy.

This is so fun! :D
