The picture could also have been titled RATP, for "Reseau Aerien de Transport Public"... For anyone outside Paris, the acronym RATP actually does exist : this is the Paris Metro Company. It means "Regie Autonome de Transport Parisien" (Independant Company of Parisian Transportation), though, and not "Aerian Net of Public Transportation". Too bad.

The station building is Dresden, however. But the art-deco style fits perfectly to Paris.

You're right! Steampunk knows no borderlines...

I have made a couple of videos of Stefan's work. This is in this one:

A great piece. The sepiatone color scheme lends the perfect finishing touch. It'd be fun to see this animated.

Thank you very much, again ! It's fun that you said so, because someone else wrote :
"Very cool, the detail you put into this is amazing, and you've really captured the depth of the scene. The steam coming from the building somehow makes me think of a movie where they introduce a scene by showing you a photo, and then the picture comes to life. I'm staring at it waiting for everyone to start moving. Abasourdissant!"
I hadn't think about it that way, but now...

Thank you VERY MUCH, Elly. I appreciate this, really. So much talent gathered here... I'm honored to be part of your gallery.
I thought, maybe you would like to have a look at this :

Wow that is a great interview. Thanks for the link.

I too dislike the word 'Photomanipulation' for its negative connotations. The style occupies all the same elements as Photomontage art, only the tools have changed to digital. Yet Photomontage is a highly respected art form, whereas Photomanipulation is associated with airbrushing celebrity pics.

I would like to use the word PhotoFusion for our style of art. Would you like to join the revolution. My friend Liam (Steampunk Overlord [link] ) is trying to get the term Cosplay changed to CosPro to articulate the professional style of costuming that is his art.

BTW, when I was a child I used to make huge collages of fairy pictures that I collected from cards and magazines and then draw into them.:D
Have a great Christmas Stefan:iconchristmastimeplz:

You definitely can count me in for the "revolution". The word you've coined, PhotoFusion, is great, certainly much better than photo manipulation. In French, we have the word "collage" but it has a slightly different meaning in English, hasn't it ? It's great, though, because it artistically links the whole thing to the Dadaist, Surrealist, Italian Modernist,Russian Constructivist, etc... movements and to a highly respected tradition of "collages", as you so rightly pointed it out.
I was wondering, also, if we do have to include the word "photo", that sounds a bit restrictive, not mentionning the other than photographic elements, neither the digital graphism part. I was wondering if Graphic Fusion would make any sense for people, instead of Photo Fusion ? I don't know.
We'll have to think about it and it's great that we are "starting a new aesthetic school", or at least that we are naming it for the next centuries, isn't it ? After all, that was how things were done about Impressionism, Cubism, whatever...
In the meantime, have the very best of Christmas, too !

Chateaubriand, toujours...

Thank you very much. As for me, I'm amazed by how perfectly you've "got" what I've tried to convey in this image... the feel, etc. Your intelligent, sensitive appreciation of what I try to do means a lot to me and I thank you for that.
