Retro Sci Fi II by stayinwonderland Retro Sci Fi II by stayinwonderland
Here's the first one - fav.me/dcbfm8i

Make up your own story! Born of my love of 70s Sci Fi due to its weird colors and weird... everything. There was a lot of 'strange' in sci fi back in those days. Love it.

Awesome work! You really captured the sci-fi feel of the 70s covers! :D (Big Grin) Clap

Wow, beautiful. It's a shame the American Star has decayed to the point where it's essentially gone today, with it's sister ship rusting away in a pier. Great rendition.

The early years of sci-fi were the best as they would try anything and everything was new. The book covers were all fairly representative of the art styles of the time but still had a touch of the old pulp magazine art. It also helped that the 70s were when sci-fi started to become popular on tv other than as kid shows, although I guess Six million dollar man was a kid show in a way, and is probably why Star Wars was a hit as it was in the right place at the right time.

well Star Trek really kicked it off and that was 60s. But the art started to get really weird in the 70s I reckon. I don't like modern sci fi at all. It's all white plastic panels and massive amounts of detail and lines.

Or worse everything's a damned Ipad with a touch screen. Star Trek and the Alien franchise are getting notorious for that, the stuff's supposed to be prequels but the tech is all stuff that didn't exist in the movie universe at that time. Personally the world could have stopped around 1985 and I'd be happy with that tech level in the real world.

yeah I love old tech but set in the future. One day movie makers (art directors/production designers) will realize that it could be cool to create sci fi that's based on retro tech, just for the pure style of it. Something eerie about manual levers and rickety computers with big square buttons, all dirty.

That's the American Star ship, wrecked near the coast of Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands (Spain). Nice paint of it
