Carnival Night Zone Short

42K ViewsEdit: Feb 20th 2009 - With Sonic Shorts 5 out now, it seems my short has been pushed by to Volume 6. There have been problems with the file size, so I don't mind.

Cast your mind back to the good old days of Sonic 3. Do you remember the barrel in Carnival Night Zone that you could not get past? Well you weren't the only one! Plenty of people had this problem, and still do!
This is the idea for my short. Sonic arrives at one of the barrels and jumps on to it. It fails to move so he tries again. Confused, he looks towards Tails who has no idea. In the 'a long time later' part, you will see Sonic attacking the barrel with a clamer (we all wanted revenge against this barrel, you see lol. We then see Tails conducting experiments on the barrel while Sonic waits impatiently. He then notices that they are approching the 10 minute mark and orders Tails to hurry up. While sulkling he discovers the instruction manual on how to use the barrel. Reading it, he discovers just how easy it is to use. Angry at this revelation, Sonic loses his temper, but before he can swear the timer reaches 9:59 and he dies.

I never knew how to get past that part until I watched this animation. I DIED IN THAT PART SO MANY TIMES (37 to be exact) JUST TO FIND OUT I HAD TO MOVE UP, AND DOWN?! WHAT THE F- :Time Over:
I had that problem with THAT BARREL when I was a little kid. Took me YEARS to FINALLY figure it out on my own. WTF was SEGA thinking back then!?

When I first got to that level a few years ago, it took me a while to get it myself. BTW, I saw your stuff on NewGrounds, loved your art style, had to see if you were here at DA, which you were, and added you to my watchlist just now.

It's odd, I don't remember ever having a problem with that barrel when I played this game as a kid. It came as a huge surprise to me years later when I found out that it was such a heavy roadblock to so many people.

Oh my god.... THAT'S ME WHEN I WAS PLAYING THE GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME, UP AND DOWN... I DIDN'T KNOW THAT. XD
But I do know now. ^^
You know. ALL THESE YEARS I've Played Sonic 3. I NEVER figured out how to properly get through this. I had to go WAY up just to get under the moving platform before it could go down. THIS SHORT SAVED MY LIFE!!

Oh my gosh. I remember that damn carnival night barrel! That shit was hard when I was a kid! Now it is like a walk in the park. XD
Okay, it's very hard to do to get past it, but funny.
