Description
Art by VisceralLuster
Native to the Salamander Island region, it is a large amphibious creature with both gills and lungs. Both sets of gill slits can be sealed to protect the delicate tissues and allow the Snoot to properly use its lungs. They rarely spend more than an hour on land before returning to the water, as their lungs are comparatively weak and they can be clumsy on land. Their primary defense when caught out on the beach is to lash their broad tails and slap sand into their attacker's face before turbo-waddling down into the water.
They have a set of split secondary jaws that nest alongside their regular teeth; this secondary set can snap out like those of an eel to catch things just out of reach of their normal jaws and reel in the prey item.
The dots along their snoot spike and lining their bodies are biological electrosensors like those found in sharks. They use this to seek out prey in conditions where their eyes do not serve them well, often allowing them to snap up prey hidden in crevices or under the sand. The gills along the sides of their necks act primarily as filters when they are foraging along the seafloor, providing vents for the sand while they dredge small creatures and other food items out of the sediment.
Opportunistic predators, they will scavenge as well as eat practically anything that moves. Though smaller than a Ketucari, they live in groups, and their extending jaws and powerful tail can be very dangerous.
Possible Drops:
Sharp fang
Battle scar
Leather scrap
Large chunk of meat
Large carcass
Any high tier crafting material
Difficulty Scale: Medium-hitting Harsh
