Description
Cousins to the Quilled Hogfliers of the Molten Highlands, the Plumed Hogflier evolved parallel to the Feathered Raziq. Plumed Hogfliers, unlike their quilled cousins, are no longer sanguinivores and do not drink the blood of their raziq companions. However, they flock with Raziq for protection in return for the delicious delicious parasitic insects such as feather mites that like to settle where the raziq cannnot reach. In return, they use their superior vision to warn the raziq of incoming threats, and individual hogfliers can be found acting as baby sitters for litters of squeakers.

Typically, a single Raziq will be accompanied by a mated pair of hogfliers and the typical 1-3 chicks of that season's clutch.
Plumed hogfliers are, on average, 6 feet (1.8m) tall, excluding their horned crest. Females tend to have larger crests while males tend to have showier tail plumage and patterning on their wings and throat sacs.
Plumed hogfliers have a unique vocalization produced by rapidly inflating and deflating their throat sack, that Zolkanis natives often describe as "Yodeling bass".
