Well.. Yes. If I'm not wrong...I think it were because many parents were outrageous about NES.
Many kids didn't do their homeworks and so on.
So Nintendo of America wanted to design it to an older age of players.
They changed NES too, but that were in other thoughts.
Famicom were better with cartridge input from the top than Nes with input at the front.
But someone at Nintendo of America wanted it to look more like a VCR, because people knew how a VCR worked.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is it how I remember it.
