Im going to start off by saying sorry for any mistakes im typing this on an old smartphone at nearly 6am because I cant sleep
Thank you to everyone who helped me raise funds for akicon. I was able to meet my goals and have plenty left over for an exciting weekend in a place I loved going every year
However, I didnt make it to SeaTac.
I got into a very bad car accident right after I left town. The police and later the nurses said I was lucky to have walked out of that wreck.
I was following a friend up to the convention. We both stopped and waited for our turn to turn onto the beginning of the highway
I was too excited. My mind was elsewhere and my driving was practically on autopilot as I followed him
He darted out with enough space to pass in front of a car
I followed behind, not double-checking until it was too late. There was a car approaching from the left
I had less than a second to react so I slammed on the brakes and the other car swerved. He barely missed t-boning me head on.
He missed crashing into where I was sitting by about one foot. 12 inches. If I had followed my first instinct to gun it, this wouldve been so much worse.
He hit me going at least 55 mph. More than likely faster than that.
Im so lucky, I really do feel like someone up there was looking out for me
I walked away with a minor concussion, rope burns on my neck, and a few bruises.
Both cars were absolutely totaled. The other driver was completely fine and actually came running to see if I was okay when I was too shocked to leave my vehicle after the accident
I cant make it to AkiCon, but at this point im just relieved I made it back to my house alive
Chiro is staying at a motel in town, so at least we can spend tomorrow together
I feel very very stupid
