Yes there was actually. One of the first Starsurfer-class ships was also called Enterprise as well, but it wasn't UESN-1701. They were "TSS-X" (TSS-X = Terran Star Ship. Experimental) then whatever number in order of construction. Starsurfer, the first FTL and the ship I'm currently building right now in 1/48 scale was TSS-X1. The UESN didn't exist yet, nor did it bare the flag of Earth, rather it bore about 20 flags of each nation who contributed something to it's construction.

TSS-X4 was called Copernicus, I know that for sure because it's got a decent role in the lore, where as the Starsurfer-class Enterprise doesn't. I think TSS-X6 or X8 was Enterprise. I do have that written down somewhere, or did.

At some point around the same time (a little before) the first Osprey-class ships launched, the UESN became was ratified. So anything built before that TECHNICALLY wasn't a UESN ship then and were never commissioned as such, but they were in the same spiritual lineage.

There's also the actual Starsurfer-class light star cruiser that did serve officially with UESN:

Before that, the currently under construction USS Enterprise CVN-80 is next back in that same lineage.
