Taking a Break

Taking a Break

Hello all. I need to take a hiatus from dA. Writing that here in my journal so, in case someone happens to wonder – I'm still alive and kicking. I'm just too busy with work, studies and such to keep up with this site for a while. dA's pretty important to me. Over the years, it's brought me together with some of my best friends and it's been very inspiring sharing my art here and browsing pieces by others. Of course, dA is not as active a site as it once used to be anymore. I still like it, though: I like having my art stored in an organised online gallery instead of slapped in between selfies on an Instagram account or buried in betwe

Employed!

Employed!

Hello! Does anyone still visit this site? I sure do, I like having my art sorted and stored in neat online folders – something that's a bit difficult to arrange on Tumblr or Instagram... But nevertheless, hello. Long time no talk. I last wrote about interning in a theatre. I indeed did. I spent three really interesting and rather busy months finding out what happens in theatre behind the scenes and helping out with the everyday office business that keeps the place running. But now, guess what – until December, I'm working there part-time! I can hardly believe my luck. Working in a real theatre? Me? It's a dream-come-true. I'm an

Eek! December

Eek! December

It's been a wild, theatrical year, this one. I just counted, and it turns out that by next week, I've traveled to foreign countries to see theatre six times this year. Six! How did that even happen? Cheap flights there, a fast ferry to Estonia there, and boom, suddenly I've seen theatre in six countries (well, including Finland) this year. They've all been amazing trips, but the most exciting adventure happened two weeks ago: I traveled to Germany with a friend to see Dracula the musical. I wrote about that in my musical blog, but in a nutshell, seeing one of my favourite actors live for the first time? Too amazing for words. And that's not

Summer Happenings

Summer Happenings

Hi all! Last time I wrote in this journal, I was about to leave for a vacation in the UK... Since, I've been to the UK and back, plus to Stockholm and to a pile of Finnish outdoor theatres. It's been a busy summer, this one. The UK trip was pretty fantastic. Me and my mom visited Nottingham, Birmingham, Liverpool and Belfast. I got to see some really interesting cities, amazing museums (seriously, if you're ever in Nottingham, go go go visit the Galleries of Justice Museum. It's maybe the number one best museum I've ever been to), beautiful manors, and even the Titanic museum in Belfast. If you've been watching me here since forever, you mig

Just a little heads-up: I'll be leaving for a summer vacation trip tomorrow. First, I'm visiting the UK with my mom, and right after that, I'll go see some theatre in Stockholm with a friend. So if I'm not answering to your messages, no worries, I don't hate you – I'm just checking out some ancient British castle, or trying to get someone to understand my spoken Swedish, and doing so without a proper internet connection... Talk to you in a couple of weeks. Hope you're having a good summer so far! Featuring Christine Daaé in the role of Elissa: Follow me? Sommartiden hej hej!

Sommartiden hej hej!

Hi all, and guess what! The school year is over and I have survived! The last month and a half of this semester were rather busy and stressful. I'm surprised I had the time to draw as much as I did. I guess I tend to draw a lot when I'm stressed... But now the semester's finished, I'm suddenly 50% done with journalism school, and out of the blue, it's summer holiday time. I'm still working for study credit during the summer, though: I'm doing an internship at a local culture event. I'm working as a PR person, so in a way, I'm getting study credit for blogging, tweeting and posting pictures on Instagram. Could be worse, I suppose! Other than

Nordisk Turne 2014

Nordisk Turne 2014

Hello all! I'm just back from a little winter holiday trip. Sweden and Denmark, three cities, six days – and four musicals. That's pretty much my personal dream vacation! It was so much fun. Also, I spent a lot of time in between the shows by writing about them. So, for those of you interested in reading musical critiques, here's a list... Cabaret @ Malmö Stadsteater (3/5 stars. A unique, rather weird, modern take of the classic.)Rebecca @ Malmö Opera (2/5 stars, but only barely. The only disappointment of my trip.)Evita @ Det Ny Teater (4/5 for the show itself. 5/5 for Tomas Ambt Kofod as Che.)Sweeney Todd @ Stockholms Stads

End of Year Talk

End of Year Talk

Hello all, have you been having a nice holiday season so far? Me and my family decided to have an alternative Christmas this year: we went to Vienna for five days and just returned last night. Vienna's a very beautiful town with lots of neat historical sights, but I'm a bit upset about two things: firstly, that all the musicals were on a Christmas break, but secondly and more seriously, that I've had a cold for the past four weeks. Because of that, my ears went insane during the flights. I bought a huge pile of cast recordings and can't wait for my hearing to return to normal so I can enjoy them properly! Seeing it's only a couple of days to

Busy Fall

Busy Fall

How's everybody's fall going? Mine's crazily busy. During the past two months I have - interviewed someone who plays Jean Valjean - seen four musical premieres - sat only a few meters from one of Finland's former presidents in one of said premieres - been 50% of an attempted standing ovation at Les Mis (the other 50% was someone I used to see play Enjolras all the time) - been a part of three more successful Les Mis standing ovations - been to London and back, seen four theatrical performances and two castles there (please note, I didn't see Les Mis) - booked some tickets for a Danish production of Les Mis, because the Finnish one is a

Back from the USA

Back from the USA

I've returned from the USA, safe and sound! It was one of the (if not the!) most exciting and fun trips I've ever been to! My friend Nyranor (https://www.deviantart.com/nyranor) took me to see all the places in and around Washington state. Seattle; Mount Rainier National Park; Portland, Oregon; even a bit of Vancouver, Canada! We did so many things during the two weeks I can't even believe it. Everything from art to rodeo to musical theatre (Avenue Q in Vancouver!)... It was a great, great trip. Now I've been returned to reality, though: school started on Monday. It's my second year of journalism school now. As I mentioned earlier, it seems it'll be a bit stressful. Apart

Life Update: USA and Fall Plans

Life Update: USA and Fall Plans

So! I think I mentioned earlier that I'm going to leave for a little vacation in Washington, USA this August... The time has come, I'm leaving tomorrow! I'm very excited. I'll be meeting my dear friend Nyranor (https://www.deviantart.com/nyranor) again and having all sorts of adventures! I've been to USA before, New York City, but I'm sure this will be a completely different experience! I'll be back on September first and school is starting on September second. I'm studying to be a journalist, though I'm unsure if I'll ever be one. At the very moment, being some sort of a PR person fascinates me more. (Luckily, the journalism school also helps with that.) I even got to tr
