A 'cover' for *Droemar's short story, 'Highsong.' Done for the same class as that woodblock printish one of the horse. This ones technique was lithography, and I stayedd pretty true to the original printmaking methods (minus the stone, of course) Each color is done in black on a separate piece of paper, registered with a light table, then scanned in and color is added digitally. Very little editing was done to the 'color runs' besides registering them and adding the text.

Anyway, if I haven't completely lost everyone by now, enjoy. I mean really, who doesn't love alien fighting psychic dolphins?

Man I hated doing litho in printmaking class. Did they let you do it on the metal plates on newer equipment? Because I had to do it on an antique on actual 100 pound stone blocks. WATER. AND INK. EVERYWHERE.

It took hours to clean, and no one cleaned correctly in front of you, it never lined up right, you had to have two people on the press at the same time and it took them hours. UUUUUUGH. I'm sticking to screenpress, etching, and woodcut thankyou.

The horror...(rocks back and forth).

lol, this is charcoal on paper 'plates' 'printed' with digital 'color runs' it's the same principle, but minus the mess and the 100 pound stone. ;)

I am intrigued. I have not heard of this type of lithography. I must know more.

To the Wikipedia!

it's not a kind of lithography, it's just a mimic of that medium using digital means. I wanted the gritty look the stone and grease pencil gives though, so I did it in charcoal, but wanted to remain true to the printing process of doing different colors on separate plates, so I drew each color on a different piece of paper to simulate the different plates or runs. it's about as much a lithograph as the Embroidery Horse I submitted is a piece of cloth. (Meaning..it isn't.) it just looks like it is.

I love this so much. Like, when I woke up this morning, it was like "Ooooh, let's turn on the computer so we can look at our Highsong cover again!"
