edumacations!

Journal Entry: Tue Sep 6, 2011, 8:55 PM
Yeash, i is gettin me edumacation!

Haha, ok, seriously. I am currently going to UAH for my Bachelor of Engineering Sciences degree. It is kicking my ass in an extreme fashion and I am happy to tell you that I do not feel old there. Plus, in comparison to attending the community college I received my Associates of Art degree from, I feel like I am proud to say what university I am attending.

It is one of the biggest things I have done in my life. Most people would have just given up and kept trying to get a job with what seems like a worthless piece of paper in a world where "graphic design" is more of a luxury than anything else. I also live in what seems to be the butt-hole of digital design and media.

I LOVE art still and will continue it as soon as I can find time and manage it with studying being my priority, but at this moment, art is something I have to look forward to instead of something I feel myself drowning in.

...just some random thoughts..

suggestions? (deathnote comparisons?)

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 9, 2011, 2:09 PM
Ok. Awhile ago, I saw this interesting image and was introduced to a little series called "Deathnote". For some reason, I decided to watch it. and loved it!

Just wondering...if anyone knows of a show/movie similar to Deathnote?

I am really wanting to get into a mini series/series if possible.

Thanks,

I live in Alabama. Harvest, AL. We survived a f4 tornado the other day. SURVIVED.

There is nothing like being able to say that... I am grateful for that. I just wish that the power would be restored. It adds insult to injury that people trying to fix their homes or at least make them a safe shelter have no way of using power tools. God. We went to Tennessee to get some kind of comfort. Even just for a night. We wont have power til at least Tuesday. No hot water. No microwave. No way to keep food cold. Can not turn on the lights without lighting a copious amount of candles. On top of that, our cell phone towers were taken out so calls are next to impossible and most people still have no idea just how bad it is.

Please. If you can, if you are reading this, if you care, try to donate to the red cross. I do not ask for anything. There is a lot of people that are homeless now. They live next door, down the street, across the county, and around the state. Keep these people in your thoughts/prayers. If you haven't gotten in touch with loved ones, please be patient. They may just not be able to use their cell phones.

It is the most horrible thing I have ever experienced. Please, help. Look online for a way to assist those in need.

Thanks,
Amy :star:

"Let's journey to old and distant points of light.
ones of most wise elements.
A voyage,
to the edge of creation.

Let's wander the colossal expanse
of sensory nirvana.
A voyage,
to  limitless conception.

Let's trek through the cracks and crevices
of life's contemplation.
A voyage,
to caverns of ethereal salvation.

Let's voyage
Without a destination." -Excerpt from "Voyage", Bobby Neal

Evokeone welcomes you to take a "Voyage" with us as we showcase a variety of images and music that wanders through the imagination. "Voyage", Evokeone's 23rd release, is filled with art from over 80 talented artists from across the world. We invite you to come and check it out at our newly renovated website, Evokeone.com.

Tony Rivera, our featured artist for this release has taken us to envisioned scenes from other galaxies, with impressive detail and vibrancy. Ok, now I know that people are upset over this whole EVE online contest. I can actually understand why the one pictured in the link above was removed due to not following the guidelines set forth in the rules..but, read the comments. Here we are celebrating a day to stop the bullying, but on that image, I read some of the meanest comments I have in awhile.

spyed says in his film, "one of the best outlets for when people are making you feel negative, for you to feel positive, creativity is an outlet for that". Well, this person just submitted something to a contest. He may have put all he had into it and how do people comment: "stupid", "what a joke", etc.

Really people. do you not realize how hurtful you are being. If you have a comment about it not meeting the guidelines, feel free to say so. There is no need to use words like "stupid", "gay", or anything else hurtful.

How about just "I do not see how this met the guidelines set forth in the rules" or "I thought the rules said it had to be this way". Saying something is crap or not good at all helps nothing. It only serves to make people feel horrible.

Seriously. Put yourselves in the artists shoes. Stop saying "I can't believe the stupid judges picked this", because the artist only reads "the judges were stupid to pick this". I understand it may not work in-game, but some people may have entered just as a personal quest. Just to see if they could accomplish making something like a star ship. I did not enter, nor do I know any of the semi-finalists personally. But, I am just trying to make people think of others feelings.

wow a whole year of me missing from da?!

Lol. It's been a crazy year for my hubby and I. I have been suffering from the worst artist block of my life. Everyday I want soooo badly to create art, but it just isn't there. I promise I will get back to it soon....to anyone still paying attention.

Thanks for all the crazy llamas!!

Love,
Amy

Testing + Thoughts + New York

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 5, 2009, 11:11 AM
New
Year

So for a new year, I decided to get a new journal. Do you like it?

My
Thoughts

I have been busy lately working on a book, and I am finding it so fun to do. It is a child's book (well, a series dedicated to helping parent's be more involved in their child's life and a supplemental workbook for the child to do).

Kinda makes me wish I had kids... kinda...

More details to come.

New
York

Okay. The story. My husband and I had so much fun on that trip. I swear it was as amazing as you might think. Due to a storm passing through the country, we decided to drive the 1800+ miles to a city I have always dreamed of. Upon entering the city, we noticed how different the traffic was. Of course we were both very tired and bobby seemed to only get madder at the amazingly long line of traffic cutting everyone else off to get through the Holland Tunnel. We get to our hotel, The W, at 541 Lexington Ave. and circle back around as we were so lost we missed it the first time around. Here Bobby is pulling out hair he doesn't have (as he is bald) and yelling at the traffic which to New Yorkers seems perfectly fine. (He is so not an aggressive driver which is why I should've driven..) The hotel was INCREDIBLE!! Their signature bed became our habitat for most of the trip and their wonderfully delicious food was worth the amount we paid in charges. Then we go to the party hosted by Sony and Microsoft. Wow. The Mansion is by far one of the coolest places I can say I have ever been honored at. I had taken a Dramamine though and was tipsy all night. They made us feel so special as we were up in the vip section all night and all we could drink was free. They had a drink named after my piece which Bobby had a few of. We were given our checks on stage by the senior vp of sony vaio and I honestly had no idea what to say. I met Lauren Conrad...kinda, who seemed to be more interested in her stage time tbh and the sweetest person in the world, Maya Hayuk. (Maya also sent me a book which was so sweet of her..) Anyways, the drive home was long as well, and we didn't get to really see NY. But, due to the flight not being able to be canceled, we have tickets to fly anywhere in the US, and you know where I want to go.

All in all, NYC is AMAZING!!! Just do not drive there or in the city itself... :giggle:

Much

So, amazingly, I woke up today to discover that my piece, "Red Primer: Evoke XIX" was made my 5th Daily Deviation.

Red Primer: Evoke XIX by starfantazy

Thank you so much :iconbeehivestudio: for suggesting it and to :iconirenelangholm: for picking it! I also have to point out :iconshinybinary: for the original inspiration and letting me use his as a guide for the piece. Go see his here:

Oracle by Shinybinary

I should point out, nothing from his image was used except the lines which I recreated almost exactly..

Also, go check out Evoke's art pack, Prime. There you will find more pieces that I think you will enjoy. Go!

Evoke: XIX Prime

Thanks to you all!

Amy

***EDIT***
I would also like to say how amazed I am that a few people have bashed me on this. Look. Nothing from his image is in my image. Nothing. I did the cuts on the face, only using his as a GUIDE and I searched for the exact pieces to add around her face. I made this image more as a homage to his. I am sorry I received a DD and he did not. I think he deserves one on every piece of his... I had make sure to ask him before, during, and after. I put this in the pack as I have been dealing with my husband the past 2 weeks who is recovering from a very painful surgery and finishing a book so we can get by.. We probably will not even have money to get each other a gift for Christmas on this our first Christmas as a married couple. So, please, before you attack me, let me make sure you know that I did not intend this.
