Rabbits aren't rodents. They are under the taxonomic order of "lagomorpha". Sorry Sonic fans, but hedgehogs aren't considered rodents either.

I know that hedgehogs aren´t rodents, they don´t even eat grass or plants how I know.
I thought rabits are put under the term "rodent" because they bite wood and other plants. Like guinea pigs which are belonging to the caviea family.

A hedgehog's favorite thing to eat is chili dogs! LOL!

LOL
I thought they love worms and bugs XD

That was a joke. In the earlier cartoons, Sonic the hedgehog had an obsession with chili dogs. I always thought it was some kind of inside joke between the people who made the cartoon, referencing the Sonic restaurant franchise, which has been around since at least the 1950's, which is world famous for their chili dogs.

The favorite food of real hedgehogs tends to vary from individual to individual. Some LOVE mealworms while others prefer cilantro or strawberries. On YouTube videos offering advice for people who have hedgehogs as pets, mealworms are often suggested as a way to gain a newly acquired hedgehog's trust.

Ahh ok, well, that with the franchise for the restaurant sounds very plausible. It makes sense.

Sind kaninchen nicht hasenartige? Also Lagomorpha? :P
StanHoneyThief's avatar

It's ok! Rabbits aren't rodents so we can trust this guy. :)

I dunno. I thought all plant eating animal are called rodents.
What animals fall under the "rodent" than?
PhoenixScribe's avatar
Rabbits are in the scientific order of Lagomorpha, not Rodentia, which makes them Lagomorphs. Since not very many people have ever heard of a lagomorph, I don't blame you at all. The only reason I know this is because my best friend raised rabbits so I've heard the "rabbits-aren't-rodents" argument for the better part of 8 years.

If you're looking for a rodent, you could try mice, gerbils, rats, voles, guinea pigs, hamsters, and squirrels, among others.
