LXDE 0.5.0 Desktop - explained

There's also a screenshot without panels or annotations if you want to see what I normally see while using it.

Since my last screenshot, the GTK+ file dialogs got a major performance fix-up, I realized I wasn't using many of my fancy KDE desktop's features, and I got fed up with KDE devs' unapologetic position on their poor quality-control procedures. (Last I checked, they could be paraphrased as "Any of you guys notice anything wrong over the last little while? No? Ship it.")

As a result, I decided to switch to the lightest thing I could still enjoy... LXDE.

For those unfamiliar with it, LXDE is a GTK+-based desktop environment designed for old hardware... or new hardware used by people who want to save their resources for their apps.

I've tried to match this as closely as possible to my old KDE 4.2 - explained screenshot so you can compare them if you want.

At some point in the future, I'll switch over to AwesomeWM for my window manager, but that'll have to wait until I finish setting it up to be what I consider comfortable.

The panel on the right-hand side auto-hides (see the clean screenshot) and the timeclock in the top-right is a prototype of the new UI for The Procrastinator's Timeclock and, if you accept that it's still noticeably under construction, you can pull it from the "development" branch.
