Bjork painting done as a university project. Took me 2 weeks to finish.
(Gold) Acrylic on carton (painted on 3 levels of thick carton paper) on canvas 50x70 cm.
Inspired by a photo from Jean Paul Goude.

When looking at it in real life while moving or tilting the canvas, you could notice the white borders doing a parallax effect. Caused by the 3 levels of surfaces I built

Absolutely spell binding- it begs to have a story written about it.

Out of curiosity, what music of hers helped you paint this?

Her latest album, Biophilia (especially "Dark Matter" and "Solstice")

Solstice is nice. I was always prone to Mutual Core and Sacrifice myself though. I think everyone's a little prone to liking Mutual Core after that amazing music video though. :P

I'm liking this new direction of yours. It seems you are approaching colour in a quiet way.  Any particular reason you avoid it? I'm glad you are in art school, it's a great experience (though I in no way believe it makes any artist better than someone who hasn't gone). I feel privileged to have been able to go.

I'm honestly loving working with gold paint, I want to experiment with gold leaf soon. maybe mix it with graphite?

I don't usually like working with colours, and if i had to, I prefer pastel colours. It just that I feel that my subjects are better done in monochrome.

It's my third year in art college, and I honestly can tell you that college didm' teach me anything at all... A waste of time and money. I'm just staying in college to get a degree...

Are you going to post some of the gold-tinged work? I would say maybe mix the gold paint with charcoal. I have painted with charcoal before, watered it down really, it makes for a fun experience. I've never tried painting with very soft graphite though, so maybe that would be good too.

I am sorry you didn't get a better experience. Art school was love-hate for me. Overall I appreciated my time there (though not at the direct ending of it). I suppose it all depended on the professor really. If I clicked with them, it was an awesome experience, if I didn't, it was the opposite. It's funny, the stubborn students who refuse to please are the only ones who escape with their creative integrity.

I cannot say It's a great experience, I worked on a lot of interesting stuff but I didn't really learn things.

really cool, Bjork is great, i'm not the greatest fan in terms of knowledge but i learned to love her weird sad cuteness in Dancer in the dark(2000 - Lars Von Trier)

Wow! That's amazing!! :O Even online, the prisms are impressive to look at, I can only imagine how more so they must be in real life.
