We know that for many artists out there, deviantART isn’t just a place to showcase your art. It’s also a place to share your sketches and other SCRAPS with members of the community. And up until now, you’ve been forced to submit these things as deviations.
Introducing the new SCRAPS system, a long awaited tool to increase the quality of deviation submissions and encourage community sharing.
You would submit a SCRAP the same way you would a deviation, except during step 1 of the submission process you would choose SCRAP rather than DEVIATION.
SCRAPS show up in your SCRAPBOOK on your user page.
SCRAPS do not appear in deviation browsing views. In fact, SCRAPS do not belong to any categories at all; they are simply SCRAPS and appear mainly on your user page in the SCRAPBOOK.
All user submitted scraps may be seen at any given time via the BROWSE pages by clicking on the SCRAPBOOKS tab up top. The SCRAPBOOKS tab appears next to the ALL, PRINTS, WALLPAPERS and DAILY DEVIATIONS tabs. Again, SCRAPBOOKS do NOT appear in the ALL view.
You may convert your existing deviations in to SCRAPS simply by viewing the deviation and clicking the MAKE SCRAPS button underneath it. This is intended as a tool to help you make your DEVIATION gallery look the best that it can, so use it on your existing deviations to clean things up! Please be aware that when you convert a deviation in to a SCRAP it will be uncategorized and placed in to your SCRAPS gallery. No other side effects will take place to the submission, your comments and ratings will remain intact. However the submission will only appear in your SCRAPS gallery and no longer in your deviations gallery.
You may convert a SCRAP in to a deviation by editing it’s properties and choosing the appropriate deviation gallery to submit it to.
The New Step 1 of the Submission Process
It is quite straight forward, the new first step of the Submission Process contains 6 options to make it easier for you to submit:

Enjoy these new features and please pay close attention to the Status Forum if you are looking for additional information or updates regarding changes to the community. A follow up on this topic and others will be posted there on a consistent basis.
