DOWNLOAD TO SEE CLEARLY.
This was specifically made for those who're entering my contest, though it can be used as a guide to making adoptables or even for personal knowledge.
Sorry you have to look at my horrid writing, I don't have anything I can use to put font on besides Paint and Paint can just suck it.
The Next Tutorial I'll be making is a Designing a Hybrid Character Tutorial or How I Design a Character Tutorial. I'll be doing both of them but we'll see which comes first.
The Tips aren't specifc to each column, they go together.
Now this is also a tutorial of things I have personally learned, and my advice may not be the advice you're looking for. That's because everyone also has their own style of designing and idea of what "designing" is. I'm only making a tutorial because there are a fair amount of people who enjoy my designs and have asked for my advice in the past.
That being said, this isn't a tutorial about " How to Make designs the Spunky-Mutt Way " or anything like that, it's just meant to guide you to better understanding of designing. It's not the best, but it's not the worst.
This is geared moreso towards animals as well, if you couldn't tell.
OH I also used a past adopt for an example; Which belongs to Cakeriomushi
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, I'm happy to help anyway I can! <3
Oh and please don't steal the examples, you're free to ask if you really like one to adopt them ~
Art belongs to me
Also, eh, hopefully this doesn't come off as rude, but the third example you drew up is absolutely adorable, is there any chance I could buy it? I can offer like, 50-75 points (I don't have much sadly ;-; )
I'm sorry but
i have totally fallen in love with the third character example xD
If not taken or anything may i have the character? XD Sorry. It's just, the design is so perfect! xD
With the grey and blue one, I would suggest using a saturated blue instead of a pure grey, so the colors look more united and they flow better :3 When use a light grey with a light blue they tend to clash heh. Blue/Grey designs look good, but I would try separating the dark blue and the light blue into specific parts of the body! ( Like using the darker blue nly for things like paw pads, nose, eyes, inside ears! ) And the cyan blue for the majority of the design, and throw in a darker grey to replace the dark blues on the design. ( Like the color you're using for the hair, but again, it needs to be a little saturated so the colors don't clash quite so much! Remember that pure greys/blacks/whites are generally no no's on designs, unless your design is meant to be neutral and dull colored! ) Btw, it might just be because you had so much fun designing, but you forgot to color the inside of the ears X3 If it was intentional, designs like that aren't typically the norm, but if you think it looks better that way, that's fine!
On to the actual designs, its a good idea to have a general theme in your designs, and this one has a few rings here and there and polka dots along the back. This is fine for a theme in your design, but working that sort of design is pretty hard x3 For reference I would look at designs by PhloxeButt They use more shapes and lines in their designs than most, ans there are others too who design similarly, but I tend to prefer Phloxe's style! c:
The purple one looks pretty good, you had a really great design going from the spots on the chest area! What I would do is again, saturate the grey just a tiny bit, and I notice you're going for a glowy affect on all of the really vibrant pink in the spots and the hair, but I would only have the spots glow. ~ Also with the spots I would use them all along the body c: Vary the sizes of course! You can keep the "socks " on the feet too, I'd just loose that one little strip of purple on the arms hehe ^u^
Thanks for the recommendation!
Really? Ill try that next time^^
Thank you so much! That helped. I think tomorrow ill retry them^^
(Its late and I still have homework;-; )
And eeee, I thought it was so cute too! X3 I was thinking of making a few glowing adoptables, what do you think? c:
I was just actually complaining that no one ever really made design tutorials
Ya I noticed that too, so I'm gonna work on making another one tonight haha~ :'D
But you're certainly welcome, I'm glad you found it helpful ~
thanks for this! c:
this is really helpful, thank you <3
