We are Best Friends

By
:iconsantahatplz: Alsalam Alaikum /Peace be upon you. :iconelhilal:

This is my entry for Interfaith tolerance contest held by *Nayzak

In the past few years ..The Christian holiday season coincided with the Islamic Eidul-Adha .. So here are two girls helping each other in picking cards they want to send to their families and friends .

I hope that you'll like it :aww:

All comments are very appreciated :thanks:

:iconsantahatplz: ARTIST USUAL BABBLING : :iconelhilal: (i.e. You may neglect ;P )

Finally ..It's finished ..I've been working on this piece for weeks :faint:

I was determined to make this the best drawing I've drawn so far ..That's why I studied a lot of tutorials about coloring ,drawing hair ,drawing clothes and folds ..etc .

I studied many eye coloring tutorials that when I came to color the eyes I get confused :D .. And I couldn't decide which way to follow so I ended up inventing my own way ..with the experience I gained from the tutorials I studied :D

I must say I'm 95% satisfied with the result ..The Christian girl is not like I imagined her …and there are some stuffs that I'm not very pleased with .

A funny fact about this ..I used myself as a reference to make this drawing . I held two cards and posed before my brother who took me some pictures with the cell-phone . I then moved them to the PC and studied them and based the characters' poses on them :D

It was a long but a fun task to design all those cards . I'm glad that *Nayzak had extended the deadline ,otherwise I wouldn't be able to make it .

Now ..to the Credits …

This is wonderful! It makes me upset about all the muslum terrorism going on like this, I'm just praying to Jesus for peace over this.

I really wish everyone could just get along like this. This is also a lovely piece to work by the way. Draw on my friend~!

I love the message of this picture! I pray to our God (I'm Christian ^^) that He will enlighten people's hearts to tolerance, friendship and respect.

The Muslim girl's hijab is lovely, too. I'm about to buy one for myself from AdorableMuslimah.com to wear when I have migraines (I get those often >.<'') or as a scarf for my neck.

P.S: Just had to watch you :3

Aww...Thank you very much for your sweet comment

I'd just say "Amen" to your prayer ,we do need more understanding in this world :huggle:

Oh ,I wish you good health :rose:
 Thank you so much ,that's very kind of you :iconawwloveplz:

Aww :glomp: You're so welcome!

I always try to look at differences among people as an asset of humankind, not a weakness. =) Differences make us stronger in our believes, but at the same time, they open our hearts and minds to a greater love for brothers and sisters in humanity.

Thank you for the wish. :iconawwloveplz: I wish you strength in your job, because helping people heal is a beautiful thing to do, but it can also be very painful for you when you're a sensitive person. (My mom is an assistant surgeon and I admire her strength, because I think I would lose my mind if I were in the same situation)

Many sweet hugs.

Love it! Peace on Earth!
Qur'an (5:51) - "O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people."

Qur'an (5:80) - "You will see many of them befriending those who disbelieve; certainly evil is that which their souls have sent before for them, that Allah became displeased with them and in chastisement shall they abide."

Qur'an (3:118) - "O you who believe! do not take for intimate friends from among others than your own people, they do not fall short of inflicting loss upon you; they love what distresses you; vehement hatred has already appeared from out of their mouths, and what their breasts conceal is greater still; indeed, We have made the communications clear to you, if you will understand."

Is the girl a muslim? Or is she lying about her friendship with a nonmuslim?

What Spring sky says is true.Arabic is a very rich language. It's easy to learn even more easy than english!
spring-sky's avatar
Oh no ,She's a true Muslim and they're true friends .They're inspired from me and my friend . I went to the church to attend her wedding even though I'm a Muslim .

As for your examples ,There's a misunderstanding and mis-transaltion of these verses of the Quran .

I'm not so good with English ,so I'll give you this [link] where ~Nayzak explains it very clearly .

Peace be upon you

YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.

PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.

SHAKIR: O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

So bad translations are they? How come the three prominent translators (one of them a muslim convert - Pickthal) translate it the same way? The misunderstanding/mistranslation only works on people too lazy to do their homework. I follow a simple guidline if a muslim tells me some offensive verse is misunderstood or mistranslated, I do further research, because it is clear sign that I am on to something and they are trying to hide it.
