Who here suffers from some sort of social anxiety, shyness or discomfort in social situations and feels like sharing their experiences and feelings? I had a hard time being in a crowd of strangers at school today and I wanna talk to those who relate.

MMm I'm not sure..

I am constantly anxious that the worst thing possible is going to happen at any minute, but as for social anxiety? Not so much? I sometimes get flares where everyone and everything scares me? And well I'm really jumpy in general, so when someone comes up behind me I often scream and jump ;w;

I have some sort of anxiety disorder but I'm not completely sure which type to consider it. I'm pretty sure it's social anxiety or a combination of that with others, because I feel trapped in social situations. I want to leave but I know it will raise questions. I feel nauseous and I grow more panicky if I can't calm down. If I get attention when I feel this way, it sends a jolt of unease through my whole system and I generally have to run away despite knowing people will wonder what the heck happened. If it's bad enough I actually throw up... It isn't fun. u_u

And yet, not many people take it seriously. It's very frustrating. >_>

I always feel very awkward and scared if there are teenagers close to me, whether it be on the streets, at school, on a train,... Maybe it's because most of them are a lot taller than me, but then again, I don't have the same feeling with adults.

Teenagers just ARE intimidating.

Especially if they think they're better than everyone else, like these guys www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRdhWX…

Exactly. Instead, sit on your computer all day and talk to online people. Worked for both of us :dummy:

I hate anxiety like I will literally cry if I am in a situation where I have to talk in front of a lot of people, or if like im in a crowded area, I get really scared ;;

One of the worst, most recent encounters was over the summer my entire family (grandparents, aunts, uncles...) had a huge picnic at a park and went to a presidential museum. Apparently it was a family tradition that they decided to do again. It was a toooon of fun! But almost everyone had gotten out of the museum and was waiting outside for my mom, dad, uncle and little sister. After looong waiting, they still hadn't come out. I was tired and was kinda wanting to go home, or at least back to that super awesome park we had eaten at. Finally my family were like "let's go to Old Town while we wait!" Old Town was a little re-enactment of a western town right next to the museum. So we all walked over there. I didn't like leaving without the few still in the museum knowing; it made me nervous. What if they couldn't find us? My grandparents assured me that they would just call us to find out where we were. I still didn't like it, and I prepared to send them a text secretly just to notify them of our location. Then there were the actors of Old Town; they were the kind that interacted with the audience, y'know? Talked to them and stuff? And this one guy noticed me and my family standing rather than sitting on one of the log benches. He made a comment about it, and my Grandpa was like "we're ok." and so he went to a shed and pulled out a new log bench. He plopped it down in front of us. My Grandpa said "Thank you." but made no move to sit down. The actor pretended to get irritated and said "SIT." and so Grandpa finally just sat down. Then the actor looked at me and I just freaked out. I sat down and buried my head in my hands and wept. I've always been very afraid and uncomfortable with being the center of attention, and all of those other little stresses were building up along with it. At first he was concerned; he wasn't sure if I was laughing or crying or what. But then he just, like, wouldn't leave me alone. I get that he was worried, but I really just needed to be left alone. Thankfully my family is very understanding and took the attention off of me and that made it so much better ;v; Then my Grandma took me back to the museum where we sat on some benches and waited for my parents, who finally came out of the museum. There were a lot more details to the dialogue at Old Town, but I can't remember what they are |D

Ahh, I know that feeling, I hate being the center of attention too, especially in class or around people I don't know D: When I'm stressed I'm more affected by it, too.
