I saw a journal today regarding this subject, and I'm curious for your opinions. Do you think it's wrong to have "straight pride" flags and signs, to fit in with the gay, bi, pan, ace, ... ones?

Nope.

There's not much of a reason to have one for heterosexuals, but it's not offensive or anything to be happy about your sexuality and display it is a flag. We should all be able to embrace our sexualities and be proud. I understand there's a reason why queer people really need pride/flags and why it makes sense, but let everyone have fun. It's OK. As long as they're not like, having straight pride parades, since that... THAT's excessive and kinda mean since WE have them for an actual reason.... but flags are chill.

Plus now everyone gets to just use tiny flags on their pages for their orientations instead of just us non-straight peeps. O: It's fun!

I don't think straight pride is needed since it is most of the populations sexuality but I think straight pride kind of makes it like equal.
Say there is gay pride, bi pride, etc, if there is straight involved in those it kind of makes it seem like it is equal to others and it makes it like seem like there is no right sexuality, which there isn't.

Someone once over this site asked if I was "one of the prides" or just straight. So basically they called prides their own little thing and straight was normal. If straight was considered a pride I would say that people are saying that every sexuality is equal.

Hmm, I'm not sure about the pride thing though. I'm all for the flag, but for it to be a pride thing, I don't know.

I understand that

I agree with you.

Oh, you're proud to be straight? Good for you.
Oh, you're proud to be gay? Good for you.
Oh, you're proud to be trans? Good for you.

It shouldn't matter. You have pride in who you are. I would only say it's not okay, is if straight pride tried to dominate and take over the other pride's.

I'd be against any "pride" parades, no matter the sexuality.

Why not? I mean if every other sexuality get a flag, why not straight people? I mean are we gonna just leave a sexuality out just because its more widely accepted, that seems a bit hypocritical to me. If you preach equality and want something for your group(sexuality, ect) then you have to do the same for the others. It only makes sense, or at least to me it does. owo

Well personally I think it's fine; really it's a way for people to express their opinions, values, beliefs etc. (I guess??) so as long as there's nothing upon any sexual-orientated flag stating that "we are better than (insert sexuality)" all's good.

Yea, I think so too.

i don't think, like, straight pride stuff is needed. the majority of people are straight, and think being straight is normal, while being anything else is different and odd and wrong. so,,
(but flags are fine! any sexuality flag is cool :0)

Yea, the flags are fine I guess. I don't think straight pride is needed either :XD:

I don't think it's needed at all because the world is already so heteronormative and catering to heterosexuals, why do they even need a flag? It's like they're trying to belittle other minorities by saying "WE HAVE A FLAG TOO!" idk, to me the point of having a pride flag is for recognition of other sexualities that aren't considered the "norm", and it's important to become aware of those. By having a straight pride flag they're basically just rubbing in the fact they're percieved as "normal" as we already know :/

Although its good to be proud of your identity, regardless of how you identify!

Hmm, makes sense. I just think that at least part of the people who want a straight flag want it to make the orientation spectrum complete, you know? Like, it would feel weird to them to not add it in the options.
And in another way, to bring heterosexuality on the same level as other orientations. By leaving out the straight flag you set them apart from the other orientations - and it's understandable that people do that, with heterosexuality being the only universally accepted one and all - but on the other hand, keeping it apart doesn't bring them on the same level either, you know? When you want equality for all it's kind of weird to deny one thing to one group, because that empasizes that they are "normal" and the rest is "special". And keeping the normal versus special view alive doesn't bring us either.

I find that straight pride is perfectly fine, but is it REALLY needed? No ones really reported being bullied because they are straight? I guess it doesnt really matter to me that much? Im glad they're proud cause I do get why they would want one, everyone being proud of they're sexuality and getting their own flag, why shouldnt straight people? I find it unnecessary but fine by me?

I think it's mostly to have all sexualities covered by flags, it would be weird to leave straight ones out xD

I think it's okay ,,,,,, sorta ,,,,, eh ,,,, n o t really ,,, Like, it's cool to be proud of your sexuality, but doing that kind of recreates the A-is-for-allies situation, y'know??? It kinda gets rid of the whole purpose of the pride, y'know? LGBTQA+ people are looked down on and discouraged, and they often feel the need to "closet" their sexuality to avoid ridicule. Pride days and flags are meant to encourage them to be themselves. Straight people don't have need for encouraging; they're already at the top of the food chain.
I suppose while I don't think the straight pride stuff is the most evil thing in the world, it's definitely not helpful either ,,,,, If anything, it's harmful.
