Do you feel like popular artists on DA need to adjust themselves sometimes because they have an "example status" to their followers and need to act like a proper role model?

I agree with what applebriar said. I sort of see both sides of it.

I don't think anyone should go around being a jerk to people, especially not to their watchers, and we should all set good examples for each other, tbh... I've seen popular people go around and act so arrogant when really they're no different from the rest. And then I've seen some of them being kind and sweet to people and showing others that they truly appreciate their popularity. Obviously, I'm drawn to the latter. If I see anyone acting like a jerk all the time, I usually unwatch them (this is whether they are popular or not though). I don't think they necessarily have to hold themselves to higher standards than anyone else or anything, but it shouldn't be that hard to just stay humble and not act like a prick to everyone.

I'm not even sure what a proper role model would be. It's not really my place to tell people what to do.

You do you, i'll do me.

I have mixed feelings about it, because on one hand, (usually) an artist didn't ask to be popular; they didn't ask for people to go by their examples. On the other, whether they want it or not, people are going to look up to them and it'd be nice if they did set a good example. So I understand both sides??? ;o; I see it like celebrities who do stuff people don't approve of, like smoking. I mean, parents shouldn't blame the celebrity because the parent didn't teach their kid that smoking is unhealthy, and, frankly, it's not a celebrity's responsibility to have to watch themselves every second of the day just because a kid might copy them...but like I said, kids are impressionable, and if a kid really loves a celebrity, they're gonna try to be like them, and it'd be nice if the celebrity wasn't smoking because it does kinda give a bad message.

OTL I rambled, but it's a double-edged sword to me :'D

I don't think that they need to stop being themselves of course but they do need to consider more the effects that they have on others.

I guess so! Though how they act on that is their decision.

Ya i guess I mean if something happened like if they got into a small fight or something and ended up abusing their popularity and sending all of their followers after the other person (i mean before talking to the person and trying to settle whatever disagreement they had themselves)

I've seen a lot of seemingly nice artists turn into complete asshats after getting popular.  I think becoming popular just gives them more reason to be themselves, which isn't always a good thing :p

Everyone has the right to act like them selves, (unless they hurt someone, then no). They're not anyone's mother, they don't need to impress anyone. BUT, acting like a douche is not acceptable either, so unless they are a bad influence, they don't ow anyone anything, in my opinion ^,^

That's true, I guess! No one should act like a jerk and we should all be respectful towards one another.

It's just like being popular in real life: some of them act like a rich jerk and think that they are the best and no one else is better than them. But some of them act like any other people, thinking that they aren't so different than others, talking and hanging out with their fans. That is the true popular person.
