omG Idk...... I'd just say, as long as it connects with you in a way, then it's your fursona.
tbh bandit is literally so different from me, and she isn't what I wanna be, but she doesn't feel like just a 'mascot' , for some reason I just connect with her as a 'fursona'

I think its mostly like you. If you draw, say, Bienie doing something, it will be easier to just
draw what you would do. Plus, if you are like me and you write a story about your fursona, its a lot easier to base it on your own life! XD

I think so too, for myself xD

I think it should be mostly like who you are.
I mean; Jazz is me. Just me. With things I strongly dislike about myself; others I like... And I think it's best than to have him be who I want to be.
Plus it's always super interesting to look at someone's fursona and see how they see themselves/kind of see who they are.

So I find it a lot more interesting to have a fursona who fully represents who you are

Same here, I have that too :XD:

Characters always tend to be parts and pieces of their creators mixed with whatever their creators desire. More often than not, even if a creator doesn't share their characters' ideals or personalities, they DO agree with at LEAST one or two things.

I'm aware.

I think it's different for everyone. It should represent you in a way but doesn't have to fully do so. Idk

I know that it's different for everyone, this question is about how you feel personally for yourself.
Owl-Flight's avatar
oh for my own fursona? representing myself as closely as possible. The way it's worded makes it sound like "what should everyone do" and I think anyone should be able to decide"

I think everyone should be able to decie as well :XD:

if u say it's a representation of u, then it should be a representation of u--ya know, real u, not storybook u, since technically they're 2 different people lol what do u want

I technically have a mascot as my main character but I call it a fursona because fURSONAS, MAN. Everyone needs a fursona. It's a law.

Yes, gotta have fursonas.

I feel like either half and half or 90% like yourself and 10% what you want yourself to be like OR something you feel would make it different then yourself and how you want to be, to make it a little different then a new fursona if you ever decide to change fursonas.

I'll normaly put as I said 90% of what I'd be like into my fursona, 2% of what I want to be like with my current one (considering I'd really like to have blue eyes and if I could change 1 thing one would be my eye color) and 7% just raising or lowering a bit of things from how I already am personality wise.

I think it should be 80% "how you are" and 20% "what you want".

I'm surprised to see the results are the opposite of what I both expected and voted.

Who wants to be even more like themselves when you can be anything?

Anyway heres a drum and bass version of reading rainbow, it's absolutely sick:

For me, my fursona has to be like me in order for me to identify with them :XD:

But that song is pretty great.

I guess that makes sense, but how similar does it need to be until you're just drawing a self portrait? XD

I can see creating a persona as like an extension of your personality.
Embracing your good and bad traits, then exaggerating all of them for comic effect.

I think I'm too self conscious to do that though, I'd rather just deny both sides in favor of fresh new characters lol

Meh, I mean, mine is a cat, so she may act the same, but at least I don't have to draw my own face all the time, you know :XD:
My persona is like, just me, so it's 100% boring and I never draw that.
