That makes sense yea ^^ And it's over more quickly in the sense that I have control over when I am done with gifts. With Secret Santas, you rely on other people, they need extensions, they drop out and don't tell you, you suddenly have to draw 4 images in the middle of exams, ... It can last much, much longer than expected, and that's frustrating.
Secret Santa's are fun. I only joined one once, so if you'd host one this year I'd definitely join! But if you don't host one I completely understand and tbh if you're so busy I think it would be better for you to just draw gifts for friends. I'm sure the people you draw gifts for will love to get something personal. And it would be a lot less stressfull for you, you can take all the time you need for it and it won't matter if it's delayed. (:
I can't do both, I really don't have the time. I have university, and it's not getting any easier this year. Drawing already takes me ages these days, and the last Secret Santa I hosted was... a lot of work. If I do it again, it will have a limited amount of entrants (last time 100+ people entered and it was hell to manage on my own), a minimum requirement for art (has to be at least coloured fullbody to prevent people from doing minimal effort, and people with no examples of the minimal required effort art would not be allowed to enter to prevent it from being too unfair in terms of effort given versus received) and even then, I'd have to think about if I really want to do it. I know for sure that I'd like to enter some Secret Santas again, but I'm not sure if hosting one will be worth it. Then again, I'd have to see if anyone is hosting any nice ones, some years it's hard to find them!
I'd like to draw some friend gift art too, though.
