When you make a character design for someone else, or an adoptable, and the person who owns it wants to sell/trade/gift it to someone else, do you want to be notified? (Let's say we're NOT talking about closed species.)

It's kinda weird, because I sold an adoptable once, a really nice design and someone bought it from me. I followed them because I wanted to see the cute art they made with that character. But they never used the character and in the end I kinda had to watch as they sold the adopt in a big sale they had. While it was a bit disheartening to see an adopt be tossed around, I know I wouldn't have used them. So to me, it's sorta out of mind out of sight thing. I don't want to be notified when a person sells an adopt or whatever because it just kinda makes me sad in a way?

it'd be cool to know about, but i don't keep track of it at all it'd just be because i was curious XD i would NEVER tell anyone they couldn't sell/trade it, for any amount, because in my opinion once i sell something to someone they own it, though. c:

I don't mind since once someone buys the character it's their property. I just prefer that they don't sell it for a higher price than they bought it

This is kind of hard for me to answer, cause the only things I make so far are closed species LOL

But I do own a few adopts that are not CS so speaking as someone who buys them, I don't think they should have really strict rules on selling/trading. I think when it comes to non-CS people should be able to do what they want. I mean I can understand a rule like "don't sell for more than you paid" or "let me know cause I wanna see what they do with them". BUT I can't stand rules like "You can't sell/trade/whatever if you don't want them you have to give them back to me"... O_o uhm yeah I totally want to give you this back after paying money/points for it, so I no longer have anything and you get to make more money off it... yeah that makes total since OTL

Yea, I don't like that rule either - then you just wasted your money and they get to sell it twice :noes:

I mean like, you could say "you gotta notify me bro" but what's to stop them from selling it anyway? What could you possibly do to stop that person from selling that design? Nothing, you can't do anything, so it's better to just not have rules like that anyway. Saves you the heartache of watching your design you wanted someone to keep get sold.

Some people have revoking rules, saying that if you break x rule, they will simply take back the design - but I am honestly not a fan of such rules, and I don't really want to try and keep track of what happens to something that is no longer mine, so I don't bother to make them notify me :XD: If they resell it, that's cool.

I've already gotten my points from then so from there they can do whatever they want with it, but not sell it for higher profit than they bought it for.

If they were selling it, I'd want them to tell me for how much so I can make sure they're not charging more than they paid for it, otherwise, it's up to them what to do with the character~

I like to be notified cuz I like to see how others use my designs, ya know, out of curiosity. It's not a requirement though, I'm not forcing anyone to do anything.

i prefer some kind of notification because i like most designs i make and would possibly like a chance (if not then, then down the road) to get them back, but i really don't get the whole "you gotta tell me what you do with it or i'm revoking it!!!" kind of rule... like i dunno closed species are one thing, but since you don't have the rights to the species and you basically sold/gave away the rights to the design, i don't feel like people should demand that kind of thing
informal "please notify me/don't trade it" kind of things are totally a different story, though

Yea, that makes sense! I get the "watching the design and maybe someday get it back if it's up for offer" thing, but I don't like revoking rules of any kind.
And yea! I might not get a design if it has the no trade rule (even though I rarely ever get rid of characters I own) but I'm cool with it if it's worded in a polite way and they don't threaten to take it back with no refund. If the design was gifted in the first place, I can see why a no selling/no trade rule would apply.
