My school district (or former, i should say, since i graduated) adopted an excessively restrictive dress code. But seems that me and my friends are the only people who ever cared about how much it sucked, and even was hypocritical, in a way.
IDK if anything has changed since I last read a copy of the policy.
But the adults seem to think it solves issues and crap. Btw, it also was selectively enforced till the end of my senior year. As a rule of thumb, if you fail, or choose not to enforce the rule for virtually the entire year, you've lost the right to, far as I'm concerned. I have the greatest of disrespect and hatred to the administrative/office staff of my former high school for many reasons, including this.
No uniforms..... Just plain jane norm. But lots of rules with the clothes. no hats inside, no leggins of any kind (Includes ones that look like jeans) shorts must be a dollar bill lenght from the waist. (Which is good cause some pants are not pants. XD)
So no uniforms comes with its drawbacks. but the no uniforms is awesome cause of the awesome shirts that I see. Like "Next sarcastic comment coming in 3... 2... 1..." Or "I'm not lazy. I really like doing nothing"
My elementary school and my high school both require uniforms, so I'm used to it. I don't know if a lot of public schools require uniforms, but my schools are private and religious so uniforms is required partially because they believe in modesty, I think.
It's kind of complicated at my school. We have to wear a uniform for extra curricular sometimes, a uniform for gym, and (preferably) "Spiritwear" for important school events. We don't have to wear uniforms, but we only have a short list of acceptable clothes (heck, they won't even let you wear sweatpants or leggings now)
my school has uniforms, although i don't know what i would do at a school without them, oh my gosh. it's so easy to get up in the morning and be like yAS now i don't have to wonder what i'm going to wear and struggle finding clothes in the morning and end up late. like sure my uniform is an assortment of green tops and beige dress pants, and sure we look all look like trees wearing them, but at least we can be a forest together.
