In a way...? I mean, my bestie said she liked girls on her FB, and when I pointed out that I did too, her aunt (or something, family of sorts) were saying it was a sin, blah blah, we shouldn't love those of the same gender, etc, but it wasn't really doing anything. I stood up for the both of us, and my parents got involved. When they stood up for us, she just deleted her comment and never bothered us again c:

I'm not religious but when I was younger, in primary school, we had religion class for some reason. Everyone had to go there, whether they were religious or not. I got in fights with my classmates because almost all of them were religious and they constantly tried to force their beliefs upon me.
I don't have a problem with religious people but I just can't stand it when some of them try to force me to believe in something I have no interest in. I respect their beliefs and in return I'd like them to respect mine as well.

Not really. My mother is upset that i'm agnostic/athiest instead of catholic, but she doesn't try to shove her religion in my face.

I'm religious, but I haven't really had to deal with stuff like this too much. Many of my friends are atheist, and we get along just fine, without anyone having an agenda to convert anyone else. :)

That said, I have seen examples, online and on the news, of all kinds of people trying to shove their opinions and beliefs down other people's throats, and it's kind of depressing that some people can't just live and let live. :/

Yes yes and yes. I'm aethiest, though perhaps 'non-religious' is more appropriate as I do not carry it as a faith like some radical aethiests do. I simply have that belief and tend not to think about it anymore than that. However I have had quite a few cases when younger where I've been literally cornered by those with radical beliefs as they've grown more and more frenzied crying that I should pray with them to save my soul. It has since instilled a great wariness and anger toward preachers. We should all be allowed to voice and practice our own beliefs. The minute someone starts preaching and pushing at me is the same time my levels of trust and comfort in being with them will start to drop and will now straight up explain to them why they should reel themselves in.

Quite a few times, actually. Most of the times were Christians, other times Mormons, and I recall a persistent little fellow who just couldn't bear the fact that I don't want to join the Krishna believers. But most of the time were Christians. Some of them even cursed me tod damnation, and said that I'll go to Hell for telling them that I believe in quite a few things (I believe in my friends, I believe in myself, I believe that if I make the right choices in life, I can make a huge difference, and also believe in free will), but none of them were their god, and its divine guidance.
The strange fact is, that even considering these above, I do not consider myself an atheist, but I had to wait for the right type of religious people I can have perfectly fine discussions about religion, and everything else too. Some of my best friends now are actually religious, and they never forced me to see everything my way. They respect my beliefs, and I also respect them too. But that doesn't mean we can't share our opinions about each other's beliefs. :)

Oh, really? That's quite interesting (although I am one of them). Where I live, an island, everyone is Catholic or Christian. I've never met another Atheist, even though everyone knows everyone here, since it's so small.

one of my "friends" is an atheist and she constantly argues why she's right and whatever when it comes to religion. i'm agnostic so really i'm not the one to ask if you want to know if god exists or not but still it's awful that she keeps doing this because i do believe in some form of higher power and i don't want her beliefs shoved down my throat tHANKYOU VERY MUCH >:I
don't get me wrong i respect her opinion but i think you understand what i mean??

you're not just agnostic if you believe in some form of higher power, but you'd be an agnostic theist, which is pretty different to just an agnostic.

from what I've been taught, being agnostic means that you're sitting on the fence about religion. so i just label myself as that seeing as that's basically where i stand in the grand scheme of things.

an agnostic is someone who neither believes or disbelieves in a god/s.
you can label yourself as that although people will interpret it differently

I've had non-religious ideals attempted to be forced on me. This person tried to convince me that all our problems and fights were my fault and pretty much I was inferior in every way. Personally I'd rather have religion forced on me (then me reject it) than the abuse I had to go through.

I'm Catholic, though I don't exactly fit the stereotypes for that religion.  I support gay rights, and I'm not sexist or racist.  I also don't try to force my beliefs on anyone.  As for others forcing their beliefs on me, I've never had that happen to me personally.  However, I sometimes will stumble on anti-religious things on the internet, which are just talking to society as a whole.

Technically speaking, I'm an ex-mormon. I've become an Agnostic, honestly. But not exactly either. It's hard to explain.

There was this one girl, four years younger than me, and she had made me her "project" because I wasn't sure in all that religious stuff. And I'm still not so sure. The girl is nice and all, but she's a bit immature and far from understanding the reality that people don't change unless they want to.

Her making me her project did nothing but want me to stay away from her religion. Christianity, that is.

She made me her frigging Project. What am I? An Object? Is there something wrong with me? I don't think so.

People should be free to decide on their own what they believe, and everyone should follow their own path, whether it be rough or smooth, thick or clear, left, right, leading high or staying flat.

I don't do that to others even though I don't agree and people don't do this to me. At least for now. I think everyone should believe in whatever makes them feel good. If they really believe in Jesus/Allah/Buda and so on, and it makes them feel good, then I can really respect that. And I actually find really interesting when people telling about their religion, story surrounding it and ceremonies they do. That's really interesting. But you can't push religion or your any other believes (racism, sexism and so on), that's just really wrong and those people are to narrow minded to understand that.

^ ^  ^ ^  One's religious beliefs should be kept personal unless asked, and then only stated matter-of-factly, without evangelicalizing or conversion intent. Arguing over it is foolish. And, as Oscar Wilde well noted: "Don't argue with fools. Others may not see the difference." ...
