Description
Tyndall County Fire Rescue Station 3 is located in historic downtown Tanglewood. Station 3 is the oldest operating fire station in the county and originally served as Tanglewood VFD station 1. Station 3 is a combination station the has a full time staff of 2 24/7 who are supplemented by 15 volunteers. Station 3 is located just over a mile away from station 1, but is separated by a very busy rail line. Station 3 is home to Engine 3, Medic 3, Tanker 3, and Utility 3. Station 3 is part of the 4th Battalion.
With station 3 close proximity to station 1, most fire calls are handled by station 1s apparatus. Medic 3 responds to all EMS calls on the north side of the tracks while station 1 covers the south side. Engine 3 will be dispatched to any incident within Station 1 or 3s first due that requires multiple engines. Station 3 units are also dispatched on any structure fire within the 4th battalion.
Engine 3: (1250gpm/1000gal/30F) Engine 3 is staffed by volunteers and responds to any incident within Station 1 or 3s first due that requires multiple engines. It also responds to calls when Squad 1 is not available.
Medic 3: This ALS ambulance responds to all EMS calls in Station 1 and 3s areas that are north the railroad tracks. Medic 3 is the only staffed apparatus at station 3 and it crew does not cross staff any other units.
Tanker 3: (1000gpm/2100gal) Tanker 3 is dispatched to all fires on the north side of the 4th battalion.
Utility 3: (ex Chase 2) This former chase medic has been modified to serve as a general purpose unit. It responds with a crew of 2 volunteers to EMS and general service calls. Typically on weekends Utility 3 is staffed with a volunteer crew and will supplement crews on various calls.
