Description

The town of Charleston is located in southern Denver Township in northern Magley County. Station 50 is a combination department that consists of part-time and volunteer personnel. Station 50 maintains a minimum crew of 6 on duty during daytime hours and 3 on nights and weekends.  Station 50 is home to Engine 52, Ladder 54, Rescue 56, Tanker 57, Brush 58, Medic 51, Medic 55, Squad 53, Battalion 50, and Car 501.

Engine 52: (1750gpm/1000gpm/30gal) This Engine serves as the first out suppression unit on most calls. It is staffed with 3 during weekday hours, but has seating for 6. 

Ladder 54: (1750gpm/500gal) Ladder 54 is used primarily as a traditional truck company, but can also be used as a Quint as needed. L54 is second-due to all structure fires within town and third-due for rural responses without hydrants.

Rescue 56: 
Rescue 56 is first due on all extrications and rescue calls. Custom-designed by the department, it includes a partial walk-in compartment where the dive team can dress/undress. This sharp truck has seating for 6 and includes a wide variety of Tactical Rescue equipment.

Tanker 57: (
 1000gpm/3000gal) While most of Chesterton's area includes hydrants, Tanker 58 runs water to the surrounding rural areas of Denver Township. It is second-due for structure fires in rural areas behind Engine 54. 

Brush 58: (
250gpm/300gal/5gal) Brush 58 serves as the primary brush truck for Chesterton and Denver Township. 

Medic 51: This ambulance is staffed 24/7/365 to the BLS level. 

Medic 55: This ambulance serves as the 2nd out/ reserve ambulance. It is staffed in addition to medic 51 during special events and severe weather. 

Squad 53: Squad 53 serves as s paramedic chase truck for the town. It is staffed 24/7 with at least 1 paramedic. This unit as responds as a mutual aid paramedic unit as needed. 

Battalion 50: The Battalion Chief truck is staffed by a chief officer and rotates between Chiefs on a regular basis.

Car 501: this truck is assigned to the fire chief as a take home vehicle.
