This firehouse opened its doors on July 19, 2013. It is currently home to Engine, Tanker, Medic and RSU 96 The 96's protect the far eastern edge of Oakdale from Ocean City to Fort Wilson County.
Engine 96: When this truck was moved to Station 96, the former foam tanks were punched into and are now used to carry water. Therefore, this rig now carries 700 gallons of water.
Tanker 96: Milan Township purchased this larger and more well-equipped tanker to replace a much smaller truck in service since 1991. There are still several areas in the far eastern portions of Oakdale that are non-hydranted. Additionally, several large homes in the area sit so far off the road that tankers can be a more effective water supply than long relays of hoselines.
Medic 96: This apparatus was reassigned as Medic 92 on July 19, 2013 and was then moved to its home at Station 96 in December. This apparatus serves as the department's fourth-out Ambulance and is cross-manned by the crew of Engine 96.
Rehab Support Unit (RSU) 96: RSU 96 entered service in the summer of 2011 (as RSU 94) and is run by the Oakdale Fire Corps. Manned completely with civilian members, this unit will respond to working fires, technical rescue calls, extended incidents in the heat or cold and extended training scenarios. This rig carries equipment for Incident Rehabilitation that includes rehydrating, cooling and heating OFD personnel.
