Description
Located in north central Delmar County, Grant Township is a largely rural township with a population of 3,500 including the town of Demming. Grant Township Fire Department is located in the town of Demming and protects all of Grant township. This all volunteer department is made up of 25 volunteers who provide fire, rescue, and BLS ambulance services. GTFD is home to Engine 14, Engine 14-2, Rescue 14, Tanker 14, Squad 14, Ambulance 14, and Brush 14. Advanced Life Support services are provided by Delmar County Rescue Squad.
Engine 14: (1250gpm/1000gal) Engine 14 is the primary suppression unit at GTFD. It responds first out to all structure fires and alarms.
Engine 14-2: (1250gpm/1000gal) This engine formerly serviced as engine 14 prior to its replacement. It now serves as a second out engine and see limited service most years.
Rescue 14: R-14 carries 2 sets of extrication tools, high and low angle rope rescue equipment, and an on-board air-cascade system. R-14 responds to vehicle accidents, top-water rescues and other rescue incidents.
Tanker 14: (1000gpm/2000gal) Tanker 14 responds second out to all fires calls in the township.
Squad 14: Squad 14 serves as a manpower transport unit. It responds to all EMS calls along with the ambulance. It can also serve as a command vehicle.
Ambulance 14: A-14 responds to all EMS calls in Grant township. This BLS ambulance is equipped with a small complement of top-water rescue equipment.
Brush 14: (250gpm/300gal) Brush 14 responds to all vegetation fires within the township. This unit was provided to GTFD through a grant from the Dept. of Natural Resources.
