The City of Gadsen is located on the southwestern side of Delmar County. Gadsen is largest municipality in Delmar County and serves as the county seat. Operating out of 4 stations, GFD provides Fire, Rescue and ALS Medical response to nearly 30,000 residents covering 35 square miles of land and 5 miles of coastline along the Arden Sea. Station 1 is located in downtown Gadsen and sits on the banks of the St. Marys River. Station 1 is staffed by 7 firefighters and is home to Rescue 1, Ladder 1, Medic 1, Tanker 1, Battalion 1, and Dive 1.
Rescue 1: (1500gpm/500gal) Staffed with 4, Rescue 1 responds for all extrications and rescue calls city-wide, in addition to it's own first-due Engine district.
Ladder 1 (1250gpm/500gal) Whenever the Ladder Truck is required, it is cross-manned by Medic 1's crew.
Medic 1: Medic one responds first due to all medical calls within the downtown district.
Tanker 1: Cross staffed by Rescue 1, One firefighter will operate Tanker 1 when requested on calls.
Battalion 1: BC1 serves as the shift commander for GFD. It responds to all major incidents.
Dive 1: (Ex MD4) Cross staffed by Rescue 1, Dive 1 responds to all water rescues calls in Gadsen. This former ambulance underwent significant modifications after leaving frontline service. This truck now is designed to allow members to don the proper water rescue suits while responding to the incident.
