Description

The town of Fairmont is located on the far eastern side of Delmar county. Fairmont Fire Department is an all volunteer department protecting all of Lafayette and Douglas Townships. Station 12 is home to Engine 12, Engine 12-2, Truck 12, Tanker 12, Rescue 12, Special Service 12, Brush 12, Gator 12, and Medic 12. 
 With a roster of 25 volunteers, FFD provides Fire, Vehicle and Farm Rescue, Wildland fire attack, and First Responder services to over 100 square miles including all 25,000 acres of the Thomas State Wilderness. The Thomas State Wilderness (TSW) is owned by the Washafornia Department of Natural Resources. Windago State Park manages TSW. While FFD provides primary emergency response within TSW, Windago State Park FD will respond to all fires on the property. TSWs northern border sits on 20 miles from Windago State park making for a quick response when needed.  

Engine 12: (1500gpm/700gal) Engine 12 responds first out to all structure fires and fire alarms. It also responds 3rd out for wildland fires. It has seating for 5. 

Engine 12-2: (1000gpm/400gal) With seating for 3, Engine 12-2 responds first to all vehicle fires and public assist calls. It responds 2nd out to all MVCs and wildland fires. The 4x4 capabilities allows this unit to respond down the miles of trails within the Thomas State Wilderness.

Truck 12: (1250gpm/300gal) Truck 12 responds 2nd out to all fire alarms and structure fires. T-12 also responds to all technical rescue calls. 

Tanker 12: (300gpm/1800gal) Tanker 12 responds 3rd out to any type of fire as the primary water supply apparatus.

Rescue 12: Rescue 12 responds 1st out to all vehicle crashes, Hazmat calls and technical rescues. It is equipped with a full set of Extrication tools and basic hazmat equipment. 

Special Service 12: Purchased through a federal grant, Service 12 serves many purposes. It is equipped with a mobile cascade unit, grain bin rescue tools, Bulk oil-dry, and scene support tools. It usually responds 4th out to major events.

Brush 12: (300gpm/250gal) Brush 12 responds 1st out to all wildland fires from FFD. It will also pull the trailer for Gator 12 when it is needed. 

Gator 12: This unit responds to any medical call within Thomas State Wilderness. It is also used for standby coverage at local fairs, and festivals. 

Medic 12: This BLS first response unit responds 1st out to any EMS call. It also serves as a command car when needed.
