Description

The Delmar County Rescue Squad (DCRS) is a county operated EMS agency that provides EMS coverage to portions of Delmar county who do not provide their own EMS service. DCRS also provides EMS support and community paramedicine services county wide. DCRS headquarters is located on the western side of Delmar County, just north of Shelburne. It is home to administrative offices, and the community paramedic program. DCRS HQ is staffed 24/7 with 5 personnel. The community paramedic program operates 10am-10pm Sun-Sat. HQ is home to Medic 92, Medic 94, Medic 91, The Mass Casualty Unit, Medic 981, and Medic 982.

Medic 92: This medic primarily serves Grant Township and the north western portion of the county. This paramedic unit is staffed 24/7.

Medic 94: M-94 serves as a float unit that responds anywhere in the county during high volume times. It also serves as a transfer unit when a patient needs transferred to Ocean City or Fort Harrison.

Medic 91: This unit serves as a shift supervisor. Its responsibilities include training, supply delivery, and staffing. M91 responds to all major calls in DCRS's coverage area.

Mass Casualty Unit: Staffed by Medic 94 when needed, the MCU responds county wide for any mass casualty call. It carries enough equipment to treat and triage 40 patients at a time.

Medic 981 and Medic 982: The Community Paramedic units are staffed 10am-10pm 7 days a week and handle incidents where a traditional EMS response may not be warranted. These units respond to low priority check out calls, mental health emergencies and follow up with patients who are at risk for excess EMS use. These units are staffed and equipped to the paramedic level with additional equipment such as blood testing equipment and referral resources. These units can also transport patients to non hospital destinations such as homeless shelters or mental health crisis facilities.
