Description
Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Department is an all volunteer department located in south-central portion of Kennedy County. AVFD provides Fire, Rescue and Medical First Responder protection to 2,500 residents and 24 square miles including the Town of Aberdeen and Douglas Township. AVFD is home to Engine 1-1, Engine 1-2, Tanker 1-3, Rescue 1-4, Brush 1-5, and Tanker 1-6.
Engine 1-1: E 1-1 responds first out to all fire calls and second out to all MVC's
Engine 1-2: E 1-2 responds first out on all MVC's IT also responds third out for all fire calls. E 1-2 is equipped with a full set of extrication tools.
Tanker 1-3: T 1-3 responds second out on all fire calls and first out on all mutual aid requests.
Rescue 1-4: R 1-4 responds to first out to all medical calls and third out to all MVC's. R1-4 also carries a battery powered extrication tool to assist E 1-2 as needed.
Brush 1-4: B 1-5 responds first due to all field and vegetation fires.
Tanker 1-6: T 1-6 usually is 4th out to fire calls. It usually remains in a reserve position.
