Photoshop Inking Tutorial by Spirallin Photoshop Inking Tutorial by Spirallin
Full view to view D:

...Um. Some people asked S-P how she did her lineart, so...

Here you go.

I think you need at least Photoshop 7 or above. I'm not sure, because I pretty much explored and taught myself stuff with the CS and CS2 versions, so I'm not familiar with earlier versions or other programs. You should also already have a pretty basic bit of knowledge of the program.

Please note that, when you click on the pen tool, make sure the palette on the top is selected to the "Paths" button/option, rather then the "shapes". If you're celshading using my "method", it doesn't really matter, but for path-stroking, it does.

Then pen tool is awesome but a lot of people seem to be afraid of it at first. Once dominated it's your best friend tool for sure.

Thank you for putting this together. It is to the point. Informative. Thorough. And your sarcasm and well sprinkled use of the word "shit" is quite refreshing.

Sounds a little complicated but I'll give it a try, I always use old pen & paper for inking but I'm tired of it. Thanks for this tutorial

Great tutorial! I have Corel Painter instead of Photoshop, but I'm pretty sure the pen tool would work similarly in each program. :)

Wow! This is really helpful! Me being an idiot, I've been using my brush tool to ink. ^^; It works, but I always got annoyed with how my lines weren't smooth. Thank you so much for making this; it's very VERY helpful! :D

So uh. Do you have ANY idea why I'm inking my image, and when I right click to fill layer, it won't let me select it? I can't figure out if I have a setting wrong. -_-;

Good tutorial, thank you! But, I'm having some troubles...

For some reason, Photoshop is filling my pen lines with black, not sure why. Even when I try changing the color of the fill it remains black (and it is in RGB mode). <,<

Anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks!

Thanks a lot!!! I usually don't like vectoring, because I'm not so good with a mouse, but I'm already sick of not knowing how to make my lines look nicer than regular sketch! You helped a lot!!! I'll try this out! :D
