Before the events of that night I reckoned myself a positivist, not used to believe in coincidences and mysteries of the unknown, rather persuaded that everything had a logical, scientific explanation of its own and I’ve always been keeping the same rationalistic approach in carrying on my own profession. Yet in those predicaments and despite the almost certainty of the prank, I clearly felt a crawling sensation of anxiety and apprehension prevailing over my rationality and actions, places, even things usual or ordinarily insignificant began to appear unsettling to me and dyed of unexpected dark hues. It thought it was just because of late night hour, which unexplainably keeps on arousing subliminal awes, fears, sometimes even shher terror in all of the human beings of any timeline, legacy of dark epochs of our own natural history dating back or predating Cro-Magnon, Neanderthal,

“Wait, wait” I interrupted him “What do you mean?”
Clarence cast me an enigmatic glance worth of Sidney Poitier in a detective motion picture.
“Let’s go by degrees” my friend said after a sip of his coffee.
“As I’ve started checking the corpse” he went on “I haven’t detected any injury, scratch or other signs of tearing, just a faint ecchymosis at the base of the nape. As I felt the neck, I also noticed it was too much limp to the touch, like boneless.”
“Oh, so?”
“At closer inspection” Clarence continued “I realized that the cervical vertebrae were as crushed and splintered as shattered cornflakes, like “ironed” by a steamroller or crunched by a gargantuan Boa constrictor. And then comes the bone-white pallor of the skin…”
“Porphyry?” I h

"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown."
Howard Phillips Lovecraft
Strange to say in the Digital Era we all live in, but I like better committing to this copybook the memory and testimony of the weird events happened in the Northern Methodist Hospital and its surroundings during a horrible night I’d better have forgotten. Up to date Police is uncertain about the inquiries and the press has done everything to embroider something over them but no update or sheer leaking of private information has allowed it to write much about, especially accounting for the strange findings in the crime scene and the uncanny circumstances of the accident.
Yet almost everyone among officers and reporters have eventually forsaken any attempt of investigation resigning to label the thing as one of the manifold cold cases crowding the fili

Joe dashed out the old mill café heading for the County’s outskirts with a half-wit and exalted expression depicted on his face, regardless of Dermod and bewildered customers staring at him. Galvanized by the dark readings the man was sure he was ever closer to the goal, cradled and incited by the obscure words quilled in Sir James’ tome, still resounding in his dazed mind in a dissonant yet entrancing echo:
“…and so may Y’golonac return to walk among men along with his Spouse and await that time when the Earth is cleared off… and Cthulhu rises from his tomb among the weeds, Gla’aki thrusts open the crystal trapdoor, the brood of Eihort are born into daylight, Shub-Niggurath strides forth to smash the moon-lens, Byatis bursts forth from his prison, Daoloth tears away illusion to expose the reality concealed behind… Hyloxas emerges from the verm

Many obscure forms of amusements and pleasure Owen had learnt in the Underworld and he too wanted to experiment them all once back to the County in his own playground, in the way most consonant with him. With the blessing of the Dark Prince Owen was back in the Overworld with the Dark Elven power as the blaspheme apostle of the Defiler and the Corruptrix and messenger of their deviant word; he would have practised the Old Ones and Dark Elven Art of manipulation and submission with his human preys with the charm of the speech and the magic of the touch, preaching the Gallove and the Black Joy to his thralls and playing on their own weaknesses residing in the flesh and the depths of the soul; here Joe startled again at spotting familiar though obscure cross reference again.
The wicked yokel told these to be indeed the Dark Elves’ most popular pastimes in the eternal b

To give their creations the intelligence’s spark, the Underworld alchemists decided to employ what Day-Derek himself mentioned with unexpected alchemical and necromantic erudition as the nigredo, thereupon a loud clamour came from the accusers’ lodges, yelling and bawling at him unrepeatable words full of anger and fear, but none of the most vibrating words shook Owen from his scornful, almost smug indifference. In vain the judges attempted to call those presents to order, strangely it’s been a waving of Owen’s gloved hand to make silence fall again in the abbey; despite the disrepute and patent contempt to him, jury and inquisitors too felt reckless but unable to stop him talking; notwithstanding his own condition the wicked yokel seemed having an increasing ascendancy over the all of them which forced the audience to keep on following the plot of an ever more tortuou

The lone armoured stranger took off his glossy helmet of black metal baring a slender, almost triangular face whiter than snow and hair as long and dark as raven wings; features were delicate, almost feminine and somehow attractive, especially the eyes gleaming of a seawater green, hinting a mixture of pride and malice; yet the whole image and scene described stirred up an unsettling sensation in the audience and Owen himself, especially as the fool witness stated that the figure before him was neither manly or womanly and nor the voice or the strange mannerism helped him to make out the gender.
The black knight just introduced himself or herself as a Prince of Saxony and led the fool young man to the Archdemons he had seen and heard in dream. Together they rode towards a hummock somewhere in the heath, half-concealed by the coiling swollen roots of a secular or even olde

At the last minute Amber changed idea; she liked better to stay in Kyloch Manor’s resort and explore the keep by herself in search for some clue, while Joe would have gone down to the village to gather other information, if there was. No problem for Joe, on the contrary, requesting Kimmerdige the bus shuttle service was an opportunity to distract the keeper and let Amber having a free hand to roam in the castle and access the all of its rooms, especially those restricted to owner or personnel only.
Thus Kimmeridge drove Mr. Smith down to Kyloch County and once there Joe began shambling among really suggestive little mazes of stone and brick alleys and restyled low houses of Medieval Epoch. A small store encased between two short dilapidated tower, with a suggestive, still working pendulum behind a smoky shop window caught his attention. Getting in Joe paused to admire the manifold vintage cloc

The divine or demidivine entity called Y’golonac, the Defiler, was supposed to impersonate the grotesque archetype of degenerate Man, appearing as a flaccid, beheaded or acephalous masculine being with voracious mouths gaping in the palm of the hands; a vampire of some sort, able to only obtusely drain all the freshness and vitality of the Woman till consuming or devouring her. As for the goddess Shan-Y’llac, the Green Mistress and Spouse of Y’golonac, the image of hers was even more disconcerting, hideously decadent and yet morbidly attractive for insane and perhaps sane minds about to get lost as in some Aeschylus’ tragedy.
At first unheedful glance she looked like just a sheer unveiled beauty of vague Classical flavour, wasn’t it for the corpse-like pallor of the skin and the long locks of yellow-greenish hair dripping like oily thalli of foetid kelp and hangi

In the neighbourhood of Camside, near the Cambrook’s springs stood the formerly abandoned village of Kyloch County, in the bucolic standard of placid little towns of the English countryside; many small houses with low rustic roofs covered in pale straw and musky bricks, wide and verdant meadows and heaths spotted of ancient rocks and dilapidated ruins, with the Kylochs’ old keep rising on a steep cliff of massive granite, dark and proud like a slumbering elder jotun of Norse myths.
Joe and Amber booked online a double room in the castle for a long weekend; they’d like better a much longer stay, perhaps beyond the nine and half weeks of a well-known American movie but the budget and the resort’s rather high fares didn’t allow it. Moreover the Smiths’ interests weren’t including the historical and natural beauties of the locale, they were rather motivat

“There is a Terror lurks in carven stone; not without reason do the Children of the Wastes shun horrible and thousand-columned Irem, whereof each pillar bears up an eidolon of Those Who Dwell Afar […] But more to be shunned and dreaded even than these are those images brought down from Beyond, ere the first Men slunk whimpering through the steaming fens of the primal Earth; for those eidola are imbued with a loathsome curse, and betimes they drain the strength of men or fill their minds with loathsome and seductive dreams…”
From the the Comte d’Erlette's Cultes des Goules.
In the story’s economy the name of the two main characters is not so important, since it’s happened to many of us to meet or deal with similar people as co-workers or sheer acquaintances. One might draw a sketchy identikit just to give them a face and some consistence: Him r

Hour the Octodimensional Gorge of Unpredictable Events Opens Wide

Sorry, fellow Deviants, but I really have to tell you this weird piece of news.

I have to confess that I've been (and I am currently) a Wikipedia contributor, mostly scribbling in scientific pages and Cthulhu Mythos sections too, of course (naturally, I'd say) ;p

I use to scroll down the Table of Great Old Ones where sometimes I find additions from Wikipedia users and I myself often add new entries as I find verified ones in terms of Bibliography and Reliability. Since 2010, I think, I've been adding to the list of Great Old Ones and elsewhere needed several Mythos entities - some also depicted in my artwork - like Dzéwà, Mormo or Swarog from Chaosium and Pegasus Press roleplay games and/or lesser known Lovecraft or other Cthulhu Mythos contributors' stories.

Certainly I could expect everything in updates but... seeing an original Great Old One of mine listed in the Great Old One Table!?!?

It's Kthaw'keth, which I've loosely related to Ann K. Schwader's "much cooler" Ammutseba and Lovecraft's ravenous Flying Polyps Race. Do you remember?

Spike Valance Cthulhu Mythos - Kthaw'keth by SpikeValance

Scroll down the Table of Great Old Ones (if it's still there) and check.

I'm not displeased to see my art included in the Mythos, on the contrary, but getting to know that it's matching with the mysterious "crocodile-headed beast with three legs and a dorsal row of tentacles" hinted by Lovecraft in "Medusa's Coil" (1939) leaves me bewildered (moreover, do you see where the three legs are in that formless bodymass?). Although there is a link to Egyptian and pre-Egyptian times, Kthaw'keth hasn't anything to do with Lovecraft's (so far) nameless abomination. Perhaps the "Eusuchian" snout and the writhing appendages of Kthaw'keth have led the anonymous contributor to type something not entirely correct.

All I could do is edit the entry and type Comics in place of MC in Reference column, because it's an original entity to be released in the Cthulhu Mythos comics of mine. If anyone is going to definitely remove Kthaw'keth from the table, I won't be (too much) sad.
