My Interpretation of Generations based more off of the game than off of the actual movie.
"Enterprise Log, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard, Stardate 48632.4: We are responding to a distress call from the Amargosa observatory, they have reported an attack by unknown forces, Ms sh'Aqabaa has prepared a briefing in the observation lounge."
Calhoun Leads an away team to the Amargosa observatory to investigate the attack to find that the Romulans were responsible and were searching for Trilithium, The Lead researcher, Tolian Soran, Broke into a transporter room to finish a "Project" he was working on, Tasha tries to take Soran out but Soran Beams out to the I.K.S. Q'urash where he attempts to launch his WMD probe from there but the Enterprise manages to disable the Q'urash enough that it can neither fight on nor leave under it's own power.
Tasha, Geordi and Jack beam aboard the Q'urash to apprehend Soran, Jack accompanies Tasha due to his experience with Klingon Birds-of-Prey, When they get to a security key that they need, they find that the room is flooded with radiation, Geordi is asked if he can shut down the reactor, The reactor is shut down but the radiation levels still pose a risk, Jack gets an idea to use an EV suit to grab the security key while minimizing the risk to himself. After they find Soran's office to be empty they find that he's been careless and left the combination to the launcher controls in the room. After making it to the Torpedo launch bay they attempt to apprehend Soran but he escapes yet again this time a Romulan vessel has picked him up, Jack quickly keys in the combination and aims the probe for empty space preventing the destruction of the Amargosa system.
Energy Emissions are detected coming from the Arvada system which is completely lifeless due to the Minosian weapons in the system, Lore is sent to investigate the situation since he can't trigger the Minosian weapons. He does a bit of Holmes style investigation and manages to find the power source for the elevator, he disables the force field generator around the elevator, reactivates the power and descends into the mines where he finds Soran is in nearly finished refining the trilithium, Lore manages to drive him out before he can complete the refining process and destroys the entire mine so that no one can try the same stunt.
The Enterprise eavesdrops on a Ferengi trader making a deal with Soran for Federation torpedo casings near the Halee system, It's found that there's a renegade Klingon base on the second planet, Jack volunteers to beam down undercover to sabotage Soran's departure with the trilithium, after some snooping around he got into the control tower where he found one of the Birds-of-Prey happened to be the Q'urash, and the trilithium was being loaded to the I.K.S. Cha'Joh under the command of the Duras sisters, He sneaks aboard the Q'urash and takes a damaged antimatter reactor plug, he then sneaks aboard the Cha'Joh and swaps out the Antimatter reactor plug preventing the Cha'Joh from entering warp speed.
A Romulan Transmission is intercepted by the Enterprise and decoded, They find that the romulans have set up a base on Galorndon Core II where Soran makes an attempt to destroy the Galorndon Core star, Troi beams down in her Major Rakal guise to investigate under the cover that she's there to inspect the base, She was able to use her Tal'Shiar authority to get around the base without interference until a Romulan Commander dared to question her about her purpose there, Deanna was forced to stun her and take a security key. Afterwards she sabotaged the coolant systems of the bases reactor allowing for a distraction while she makes her way to the probe launch cluster. After reaching the center she drove Soran off planet and with Jack's help redirected the probe towards empty space.
The Romulans detect the Enterprise in orbit of Galorndon Core II's pole and a battle ensues, one Romulan ship is badly damage and the other warps out. Meanwhile the reactor was brought back online and Soran has once again stationed himself in the probe launch cluster, This time Tasha, and a team of MACOS are beamed down and take out all Romulan resistance, destroys the reactor coolant systems and diverts Soran's weapon.
Soran is getting desperate and since he can't destroy Galorndon Core or Amargosa anymore he chooses Veridian as his final staging area, Two Klingon Birds-of-Prey, Three Romulan Warbirds and Three Cardassian Warships gang up on the Enterprise which puts up the biggest fight of it's life, It's nearly out of torpedoes and phasers are down to 12% but she manages to defeat Soran's Vor'Cha Class Attack Cruiser and opens a comm channel to order his surrender, Soran refuses and activates the cruiser's self destruct killing himself, the Enterprise has however suffered severe damage to her Warp Drive and the Ship is Twenty minutes from a warp core breach, All non essential personnel are evacuated to the saucer and they separate it meanwhile a skeleton crew works to avert the breach, It isn't until someone thinks of activating the emergency manual override outside the ship next to the core dump hatch, Due to the difficulty in using the EMO they take 19 minutes to manually open the Core hatch and dump the core into space, The Saucer establishes a tractor beam on the stardrive with the EVA crew back inside and pulls it away from the core and antimatter pods thus averting certain destruction.
"Enterprise Log, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard, Stardate 48650.1: The enemy fleet has dispersed and the Enterprise is being escorted by the Farragut, the Trosper and the Tian an Men to Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards for repairs as well as a major overhaul. It will be difficult to forget Doctor Soran, he believed that time is a predator and that in his quest to reach the Nexus he was attempting to outrun his own mortality. In the end he only fell prey to himself."

Much better Generations!
Where is the Excelsior-B and Saber in all this?
She's going through the "Rogue Saucer" story except it takes place in 2371 instead of 2370. Here's the plot in case you don't know, While its own saucer section receives repairs the Excelsior tests a new experimental saucer that can, in theory, survive a crash landing on a planetary surface. But the test takes a turn for the worse when the Saucer is commandeered by hostile forces, As for the Saber, I'm unfamiliar with her so I can't formulate a story as to where she would be during Generations.
The Sabre becomes Mike's new ship after the Laertes is destroyed by the Borg in 2369 right on the edge of 2370. The Same Borg controlled By Lore in main Trek Universe. It is the Prototype Sabre-Class.
Okay, Maybe the Sabre would be getting system upgrades like in 11001001 but without the Starship Theft part, She'd probably be in the process of being fitted with Bio-Neural Circuitry after the Intrepid Class proved it to be a successful alternative to conventional Isolinear Circuitry.
