I tried to convince my parents to let me get rats but my dad thinks they're vermin </3 but I did do a lot of research on them so this is a good question to ask me haha!!! -they're super intelligent, almost like dogs!! they can be taught tricks, their name, and they can even be litter box trained -rats that you get from a pet store or breeder or shelter are not vermin in the least. it's not like they went outside and caught wild rats that carry diseases. pet rats are super clean (they clean their fur like cats) and as long as you get them vaccinated they won't spread any disease -rats are social animals, so I'd recommend getting two or more -they're so cuddly and cute wth!!!! they're precious little rodents that love affection (depending on the individual of course) -they can get kinda pricey, the most expensive thing you'll buy for a rat is probably their bedding -they don't eat live insects or anything so you don't have to worry about that if it makes you uncomfortable -their teeth also grow constantly throughout their lives so you will have to provide them with things to chew on
from what I know they seems relatively low maintenance, change their bedding once a week or just spot clean, fill up their food and water as needed, and give them a little lovin from time to time!!
yeah no problem!! glad to share uvu most pet stores sell wooden blocks and things like that for them to chew on. there's even little hides made out of this hard nutritious material that they can chew on and have it double as a little cave ;w; their main diet consists of a generic rat food that's usually made up of nuts, seeds, and things like that.
tell me about your tarantula her habits her diet how often does she molt can or does she ever bite is she a calm spoder or an excited spoder if she had babies... how many could she have in one... batch does she jump how difficult is it to care for them how long do they live I want to know about ur arachnid
I SHALL -she hides a lot but sometimes she'll sit on her lil log and look out of her cage at whatever it is spiders are interested in -sometimes she literally doesn't move for a day or two LMAO (its perfectly normal tho) -i used to feed her superworms but now i feed her mainly crickets (the big ones. the big papas) -most tarantulas molt about once a year, some more often and some less often. it all depends on the individual. mine has only molted once since i got her (December) so idk when she'll molt again :'0 -she can definitely bite but i've never been bitten. there were a few close calls but she's intimidating af so i lay off when she gets upsetti -she's generally super docile but if u poke her she gets all ">:V" she can be a little skittish at times but she's pretty tame :^) sometimes when i'm cleaning her cage i put her on my shoulder + she climbs up to my head and just chills there -tbh idk how many babies she could have??? it depends on the species, most spiders lay about 200 eggs but that number can vary a lot. and of course not all of them live to adulthood. idk how many eggs curly hairs lay tho :'0 also.. a batch of spiderlings -she can jump and she has kinda?? like if you scare her she'll fly off your hand or whatever (on my bed every time bc FUCK if she falls from a great enough height her fucking abdomen will. shatter) -tarantulas are actually hella easy to take care of!!! i clean her cage completely maybe once a month?? and every other day or so i fill up her water dish to keep the humidity levels up and give her a couple crickets twice a week -i believe curly hairs can live 10-15 years !!
HOO BOY that was fun to type tbh. i love teaching people WOOOO
omg I'm glad you enjoyed informing me B) I learned about spiderlings today!! I honestly know nothing about them (until now) and tbh I will never ever have one because I am deathly afraid buuutt I still think they're interesting critters B)
oh god her ABDOMEN WILL SHATTER??? protect the poor bean at all cosTS
i have an elephant ear betta, a ghost shrimp, 2 lil algae eating catfish (otocincluses), and an african dwarf frog!!! :'^) my dog is a border collie and i have a black cat and a torbie ;w; THEY ARE OMG and tarantulas are hella easy to care for!! i can handle her, i take her out maybe 2-3 times a week :0 whenever i clean her cage i let her sit on my head and she just chills there lmao. but basically i completely clean her cage (replace substrate n stuff) once a month, fill her water dish every other day, occasionally mist her cage, and give her a couple crickets once or twice a week !!!!
DON'T BE SORRY OMG this is exactly what i wanted from this poll lmao <33
5 gallons!! all the creatures kinda keep to themselves, the froggo is a lil bitey :'0 she thinks everything is food lmaooo. and sometimes when i feed my betta the lil shrimpy dude swims up to the top of the tank and grabs a bite :'3c
YES AAAa !!! she's super soft too!! like velvet imo <3 yeah!! tarantulas (and invertebrates in general) are actually really low maintenance :0
my dog is Stryker, my black cat is Binx, torbie is Claire, ferret is Skipper, tarantula is Muffet, my two adult female leos are Jaggi and Sasha, my lil babbu leo is Barry, my betta is Eli, the catfish are Lou and Sal, the frog is Arin (but i call it a lot of different things lol), and i just refer to the shrimp as shrimpy shram :'^)
