Would have been cool to see how they would've adapted the N64 era Mario design into sprite art. Maybe they could've gone with a more pre rendered 3D look, like that of the Donkey Kong Country games. But I'd like to think that they'd continue with the 2D artwork, and make use of the expanded resolution/pallet. The first one was very much a reimagining of his SMW sprite and a friend suggested I'd try making him more on model with the current Mario renders of that time.
