Description
Built in 1944, it was made for fast freight work. The locomotive's top speed is 100 mph. It was then retired in 1956, and donated to the National Railroad museum in Wisconsin. But then, a Non-profit organization called, Friends of 261 acquired the locomotive and restored it to operational condition. Now No. 261 pulls excursion trains with the remnants of the Milwaukee Road's Hiawatha passenger train.
