Description
This self propelled rail diesel car (RDC) also known as "Budd Cars" is one of two Budd cars at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. It was built in 1951 for the New York Central Railroad. When the New York Central Railroad and Pennsylvania railroad merged to become the Penn Central, this Budd car was renumbered as Penn Central No. 80. It was later sold to Amtrak in 1973, and then sold to the Alaska Railroad in 1987. Then it was sold again to the Eagle Cove Camp and Conference Center in 2009, which still owns the car, but the Museum has leased the car from the Conference Center.
