Description
This is a "Re-appropriation/re-creation cover.
After WW2, Canadian comics basically reprinted American comics as they re-entered the Canadian marketpace.
Bell Features re-printed Marvel (Timely) Comics. The cover of Unusual Comics #6, featured the Blonde Phantom in the front being menanced by a grotesque hand while Namor, the Human Torch and Captain America ran behind. This all took place on a surreal landscape.
So I kept most of the elements, but switched out for the heroes of Bell Features. So Nelvana is in the front while behind her are Speed Savage (in his brown uniform), Captain Wonder and Nitro.
I kept the hand and same colour scheme. Not sure who drew the Canadian cover. I want to guess Rene Kulbach based on style, but not certain.
